This is the day that millions of schools go out and run to find a cure for cancer. Some people run, walk or even walk the dog while running/walking. They collect a lot of money and donate it to the cancer society. But why? Why would they run with such enthusiasm? Why wouldn't they use the money on themselves?
Because of one mans hopes, dreams and helpfullness.
Terry Fox.
Terry Fox was diagnosed with bone cancer at age 18 and was told he would have to have his leg amputated. Lying there in the hospital bed, he thought "What if I could run across Canada and raise money for a cure to cancer while running?" Then it all began...
So he did run and raise money all on one real leg.
But then later, cancer came back. he had to stop the run and be admitted to the hospital. Then he found out that he had cancer but in his chest this time. he tried to fight it, but it was stronger. Then a little while later, he died. He told his family to continue to run across Canada. Then everywhere, people all over the world began to run. All because of a little money and one man.
So think about it when you are outside, and then start to run. For Terry.
Remember: A dollar donation keeps cancer away!
The hurting must stop somewhere!
