I like to have variety, so I think I do like the little houses. However, I'd say I do prefer the keys to them.

I'm really not bonding with any of the designs I see there... chances are I'l get one of the later designs, or travel down to my TRU when I feel the need to check the other ones out. I'd rather they play around with decent combinations of colors... like white + red... always a favorite of mine, instead of throwing purple+blue+green+pink and splotching it all over... Americans.

Awesome news about the release of the Famitama outside of Japan!  Grin I was going to order one too, but I think I might just wait it out for when they hit the Australian stores.

I like the little house on the side, it's funky. =)

I'm excited about the release of the V5!

But...
I imagine hurting myself on that pointy house. :/

The Famitama is being released outside Japan this January, and it's being dubbed the V5 "Familitchi."

http://www.bandai.co.jp/e/releases/E2007110101.html

Here is the V5's TamaEXPO, which is exactly the same as Japan's, but in English.
http://famitama.com/pc/index_en.html

I found some V5 designs. They are located a little down this page:

http://tamagotch.channel.or.jp/event_campaign/whf08.html

Interestingly enough, the English designs replace the Famitama's key antenna with a little house one, and give us the keychain on the right side of the egg back. o.O

But it also shows that the screen and icons of the V5 are the same as the Famitama's, so there's a little less worrying of "dumbing down". Smiley

Left is a Connection (USA), middle two are Connexion (European), and the right is Asian/Oceanic (Outside Japan).

I just glanced at the designs and here is what I think.

The American one (on the left) looks a bit crazy to me. There might be some people out there who like it, but try comparing it with the other designs and you'll see a lot of difference. At least it looks more unisex- I think Bandai's getting the idea!

The next two designs, the European ones, don't look bad to me. I can see myself with one of them.

The last design, which is to be released in America, Asia and Oceania (my area, yay) appears to be one of the Japanese Famitama designs modified.

One thing I've always found a bit strange is that a lot of American designs I've seen on the Internet say "Tamagotchi Connection" on them, a lot of European designs on the Internet say "Tamagotchi" on them and the designs sold down here in Australia and over in Japan don't say anything on them.

I thought Australia gets same designs as Europe (Connexions), with the old-fashioned "Tamagotchi" logo word print in the top of the covers. That was the case back in the times of V2 and so on.

Those no-name covers that have only patterns and item pictures in them are used in China and other Far East countries, not in Australian releases. Or am I all wrong?

Ps.
I hope that roof/house antennae can be removed like V4/V4.5 antennae. I don't want that thing to stuck inside my knit Tamagotchi carrypouch....eww

Those actually don't look half bad imo, even though they're definitely not as cute as the Japanese designs. I really like the charm chain idea, though.

I'm hoping to see something like this for the American versions...
