YesAsia is even excepting pre-orders for them.

This is terribly exciting.

Everyone should place their preorders through the link on the left-hand navigation bar here at TSS. That way Kat and Brendan get a small kickback from our purchase, so that we can give a little bit back for all their hard work and support. Smiley

I am going to place a preorder as soon as YesAsia.com puts up photos of the different shell colours.

I think I'll pre-order one too. I normally have been turned off by these new antennas, but I really love this new one. Does anyone know how much they are going for?

$35.99 For just the tama, $45.99 with the tama plus the DVD, according to YesAsia.com.

Fry and I have been up all night sleuthing this new Tamagotchi Family Iro Iro. Wink Here are our findings, based on scrutinizing pictures and sounding out the Japanese as best as I can:

The official Japanese short name of the product is "FamiTama".

The official Japanese release date is November 23, 2007, which you can see on the Bandai Japan FamiTama site: it says "2007 (kanji) 11 (kanji) 23 (kanji)" - which spells out the date. I think it's like Tamagotchi's birthday or something, according to the little talk bubble above the date.

What makes the FamiTama different is, you are raising a whole family at a time, not an individual character. Families have up to five characters in them, plus (or perhaps including?) a pet. There are five family types based on character types: a Mimitchi-type family, Violetchi-type, Memetchi-type, Kuchipatchi-type and Gozarutchi-type.

You can buy the FamiTama alone, or with a DVD (probably region 2 or whatever so it won't work on non-Asian DVD players). The DVD contains games that you play using your DVD remote. If you win the games, you can win items for your FamiTama.

I found a post on TamaTalk by a Japanese guy named Tarokaja. He translated a Japanese page from an online store selling preorders of the FamiTama. The translation is a little confusing, but here's what I think he means.

An important aspect of raising the Tamagotchi family is feeding them. As cooking was an important part of the Entama, portioning and cooking is important for the FamiTama. They will thrive or starve based on whether you can feed them appropriately. You feed them all together as a family so you must give them enough food for everybody.

There are four games on the FamiTama that are relevant to each family member. There's a golf game, a shoe shopping game, a tea ceremony game, and a TV channel changing game.

There will be a TamaTown for the FamiTama too.

There are three shell colours available to be seen on the official page. I want the pink one. Smiley

So those are our findings so far, based on synthesizing evidence from all over the Internet. I hope most of it is right. Cheesy

Thanks a lot Elana and Fry! That was really awesome information. I would really love the orange one. Can't wait to pre-order it! Do you know when the pre-ordering starts, or has it started already?  Huh

YesAsia.com has been accepting preorders since before July, I believe. They don't have pictures listed on the preorder page, but they do have different names for the different colours. Fry and I believe that "Love" refers to the pink one, "House" refers to the white one, and "Pet" refers to the yellow one. The one that says "TV" is still mysterious - perhaps an error.

I would get your pre-orders in as soon as possible if you do indeed plan on pre-ordering one as there is a recommendation by the  manufacture to pre-order by July, as Elana stated.

I'm probably going to order mine sometime tonight just to get it out of the way and to ensure I have one set aside for me.

Having read Elana's new information on this new Tama, for the first time in a long while I'm interested in a new Tamagotchi release. I thought the improvements on recent Tamagotchi Connection versions were mediocre, but this, I think, holds lots of potential.

I really hope this becomes a new version out here (although I would like it more if they finally broke off of the whole 'Tamagotchi Connection Version X' thing). Although, I hope it doesn't come out for the Xmas season here, I was planning on getting the V4.5 then.

I read something somewhere about there being a Tama related to Pizza somewhere, but I highly doubt it has anything backing it at all.
