My friends are quite simply obsessed with seeing this movie. I don't think it's been released yet in Australia, but I'll be sure to see it too.

I might go see that, though I'll probably rent it when it gets released. The comercials are pretty funny.
I saw him on Jay Leno the other night and he was still acting the way he does in the movie. Does he always act in-character or is that just the way he really is?  lol

His name is Sacha Baron Cohen, and he's been in character as Borat a lot lately in order to promote the movie. I'm sure he's nothing like that normally.  Smiley The show Da Ali G Show has two other characters that he plays: Ali G and Bruno. I think he's a genius.

I believe he was in Talladega Nights, as a French racecar driver, although I didn't see the movie myself.

I feel obligated to warn any younger visitors of the forum, if they're interested, to make sure their parents are okay with them watching Da Ali G Show, because some of the humour is quite adult!

I just got home from seeing the movie... oh my god... it took me a REALLY long time to stop laughing. Like, I was at home and my shoes were off and then the laughter started slowing down.

I just added like ten years to my life by watching that movie.

I'm not going to see the movie.

I am not saying that Sacha Cohan isn't good comedian but that he's going bit too far with this whole Borat thing.

As he said in yesterday in some interview, there's many ppl who think there is "really a Kazashtan where homosexuals wear blue hats, women are kept in cages and are forced to drink..." (I'm not going to continue that sentence - this is Family Page).
Too many.

If some East-European guy will make that kind of stereotypical movie about USA, example "all Americans wear overalls, drive with rusted pickups and yell "Howdy ho!" every 30secs" I bet 9 out of 10 USA citizens are so angry that their faces are red like boiled crabs.

That movie was made in USA, the comedian is USAn and it's no funny for a person who lives in country - Kazashtan - it parodises with such a way.

I'm not American, not Kazashtanian so I see this whole "doocumentation" thing totally outside.

I'm waiting for the day some american comedian makes similar "document movie" of Finland and calls himself Pekka Virtanen (about the same as John Smith for english world).

Sacha Baron Cohen is not American. He is English.

It is very unfortunate that you have jumped to these conclusions about his comedy. His jokes are not at the expense of the Kazakhs, who know very well that their country is not like that. His comedy makes fun of the foolish Americans who believe his act. He uses the perspective of a "foreigner" to bring out the logical fallacies and inconsistencies in American culture.

He uses "Kazakh" culture to represent all pre-Industrial society. He might as well have invented a fictional one. Maybe it's unfortunate that he chose Kazakhstan - but according to the increase in tourism there, maybe there is a bright side to it.

You are free to watch or not watch whatever you want, for any reason (or even for no reason), but if you're going to post your opinions on the Internet, it's good to remember that nine times out of ten, if you judge something without seeing it, you're passing  judgment without knowing important details.
