Dennis and I were voice chatting on Yahoo today and we were like, too bad there's no voice chat component in the chatroom, so everyone can voice chat whether or not they have Yahoo. Voice chat was also a popular vote in the poll that I set up regarding our next event. So I set up this little widget on my MySpace blog. It's an embedded Shockwave app that works like a little walkie-talkie. No registration or downloads required (other than required plugins, which you probably already have). Just hold down the little talk bubble and speak into your microphone. Anyone else visiting that page will hear you speak. The first time you visit, you may have to click "approve" or something like that, to permit it access to your microphone and speakers. The little number in the bottom right corner of the widget tells you how many people (including yourself) are visiting the page.
Until we figure out something a little more sophisticated for voice chat, this could be a lot of fun!
And feel free to add me to your MySpace if you wish - just make sure you add a message to let me know who you are!
The widget is located
here.
I really want to see if it works, so if you go in and find that there's nobody there to chat with, IM me and I'll try to get there ASAP!
