I went traveling last weekend, and visiting a toy store I saw these interesting toys, looking similar to virtual pets, but not quite, like the Littlest Pet Shop toys.

They're made by Radica, so I'm not too sure about the quality of them.
They're little cubes with screens on them, on the screen is a stick-man. With the buttons you can play games with the stick-man, or, because they come in packs of two, place them together (doesn't appear to have any connectors on it) they interact. It boasted 'over 100 animations'.

Anyone seen/own these things? I wanted to buy a pair, but they were $30, money I needed for food.

Wow, cool find!

I checked out the website. This seems to me like Tamagotchi for the office. Wink I can imagine guys with desks having them and stacking them and playing with them at work.

The characters certainly aren't as endearing as the kinds of things we're used to. Also, they don't actually grow up; they're always capable of the same limited actions for their entire lifespan (which doesn't seem to be mortal). The gimmick I think is getting them to play with each other, but from what I saw there isn't that wide a range of animations for them to do with each other. Also, the nature of the interaction isn't all that cool; who wants to see stick men beating each other with sticks? I got a little excited when it said that you can "build a world" - I was imagining cube guys learning to recognize one another and having friendships or animosity, or coming together to build projects or something. Imagine a stickman Colisseum or something! Grin But I saw nothing to support such a theory.

Maybe this is something to round out a vpet collection, but I think it's a very different market.

I bought a couple of those months ago. They are very cute and funny. If you've got the $20 to spare, I'd go for it.
I would actually like another couple. They interact together and it seems that the more you have, the more they do. They connect to eachother on 3 sides. They are unpredictable and ammusing.  Cheesy
