If you tried any others, which ones did you try and why/why didn't you like them?

My answer: I was introduced to the whole VP craze when my friend bought a Nano Baby.. at first I found it annoying, then I found it interesting, then I was curious about virtual pets. Brendan tipped me off that the Nano was a knock-off of a much better virtual pet called Tamagotchi... and so I went and got one, which turned into Mimitchi and.. you know the rest probably....

Every once in a while its nice to take a break from tamagotchi and go to some sort of other pet. Because they're all different and most of them are a very different experience from tamagotchi. Tamagotchis will always be my favorite, but I have to admit they do get a teensy bit old for me after a while. Although now with the new types of tamagotchi there is almost always something new everyday with all the characters and items.
I've played with a giga pet kitty, who was my first virtual pet. That thing really was a nice pet, although it seemed impossible to have it survive more than a week. The cool thing about them though was that they didn't have to ever die. If you kept taking perfect care of them, they would stay healthy forever. Taking perfect care was nearly impossible for me though..
I've also had a giga frog, which is about the same thing, although I didn't play with it as much as I did the kitty.
And.. The unspeakable horror was.. THE... Actually, I can't remember what it was called.. Darn it Angry
Well, anyways, it'll come to me eventually. All I can tell you about that pet is that my mom wouldn't let me run it. Heheh.. We bought it at a yard sale for one dollar, so I guess you can't expect much from it.

I've played with a few different types of gigapets, they were pretty cool, especially the Rugrats edition and Giga Pound which were my two favorites. I can actually remember when they still sold them at Wal-Mart, along with Gen 2 Tamas, Angels and Ocean.
Ahhh, the good ol' days.
Anyways, they were ok but tamagotchis are my favorite.

My first vpet was a Rakuraku Dinokun. I still like that little toy. Smiley I think it's cool how they let diet influence growth. I also have the Neopets pocket pet: the Desert Aisha one. I love Aishas. Smiley Its programming was quite annoying through. It would need exactly the same things at exactly the same times of day, and those times of day were exceedingly inconvenient. It needed breakfast waaaaay earlier than I was prepared to wake up for it. The beep was pretty annoying too, if I recall. And the character didn't grow or change. Plus you had to buy food and toys for it by playing games, but there was a limit to the number of times a day you could play them, and the payoff wasn't too great. So there wasn't a lot of incentive to keep it alive. In fact... everything about it was quite annoying. I've never been such a negligent mom since. Although the Aisha is so cute... now I'm even thinking about reactivating it.

My first virtual pet was of non tamagotchi origin. A Nano Kitty. I lovd that thing and I was so heartbroken when it got stolen. But with that first virtual pet, I fell in love with the whole concept of an electronic pets of all sorts, and I hoped someday I would get a nano kitty again. So some time passes, I had a virtual pets since that first nano kitty but nothing was the same. So for several years after that I got distracted by other things in life.

A few years back when Tamagotchi Connection V1 had came out months after without me knowing it was christmas. My best friend/ex boyfriend were exchanging gifts and were talking on the phone as we were opening each others. He was the one who brought back my past love: Virtual pets. He got me a V1 and it was awesome. Since then, I began collecting, buying and taking in virtual pets of many types noone wanted anymore. It was great. They helped me through some rough times between me and my best friend, but I think it all helped.

Today I have many types besides types of Bandai, and I wouldn't have it any other way Smiley

I love other virtual pets! Tamagotchi's probably the best, but I like variety, and the others have interesting features. I have a wrist wanko, my sapling, yuki penguin, and a (borrowed) digimon.  Grin

I have had bad and good expiriances with non-bandai pets. I try most v-pets at least once though.  I really enjoy my Dragon Quest slime pedometer guy.  And my Sony Funbbit that goes into my headphones but, I'm not a fan of either of my nanos or the new giga pet.

Yeah I saw a few of those new giga pets out. I think Tiger Electronics is wanting to try to get in competition with bandai again Tongue The old school giga pets were decent. Not for the beginner virtual pet user mind you, but they weren't bad.
