Unfortunately, listing the websites with problems would quickly be too difficult. Often times, it isn't the sites themselves, but the ads being served that cause the issue.

The old standards still apply: Don't download anything from sites you don't trust (knowing their name is not enough to trust them), keep your anti-virus software up to date, use a firewall that isn't Windows Firewall.

And most importantly:

Use Firefox (link to the left) as your web browser.

Microsoft IE is tied directly into the operating system, the holes are crazy, and IE 7 is just ugly. Firefox, for now at least, is a much better solution (at least for us Windows users).

And I can't say I've ever heard of cameras attached to emails

I agree IE 7 is awful and ugly looking because I used it at the babysat last friday and argh! I was not used to it. That and Mohawk College told students who had lappys not to upgrade to 7 because of the fact your computer will slow to a dead crawl if you do. It's a filter thing someone said at the campus...but I don't think IE 6 is too bad. Friend of mine has Firefox and they actually aren't a huge fan of it because it consumes RAM or something of that nature on his computer. I take his word for it since he knows about the XP operating system more than I do.

To prevent a lot of stuff getting in my computer like spyware and such, I use Ad Aware and Spybot every week. For viruses, My Norton Internet Security 2007 seems to do the job (although it doesn't catch all the adware and spyware etc that's why I have the other programs). AVG is also another good antivirus for those who hate Norton with a passion Wink

Just make sure you got some stuff in around those lines. I haven't heard about cams in emails before either. Sure it's not an exaggeration?

Well, Norton doesn't work entirely, because most viruses are programmed to get around it, but not other firewalls. I use Trend Micro PC cillin, which works really well.

My virus protection is…

Using a Mac! Grin

Nobody writes viruses for Macs because the vast majority of people use Windows.

I wuv my iBook.

I'm with Elana. I just love my iBook. I had a PC before and life is so much easier when you use a Mac. I would never buy a PC again.

An email is an electronic transmission, a camera is a piece of hardware. You might as well have said I could attach cookies (the chocolate chip kind) or a brand new car to emails.
