Hey, I'm posting an idea for a structured game that I'd like to start, called "Shellwielders"!

Here's the concept:

A group of teenage friends living in Toronto have just bought a bunch of new Tamagotchi to play with together. They untab them together, and start raising them. Something about these Tamagotchi is different though - the instructions in the package refer to a special kind of "secret code" that's unlike any other code they've seen in any other version. They start playing with them, putting in codes at random, and then one of them finds that the infrared port of their Tamagotchi is glowing - a beam of light shoots out! Then, on the carpet in front of their eyes, is a tiny fuzzy creature: a real live Babytchi! In a panic, they press the 'C' button - and schloop, the Babytchi is sucked back into the infrared port and resumes bouncing around in black and white.

After further experimentation, the friends learn the secret input that will work on any three-button Tamagotchi that can transport the character from a pixelated screen into real-life!

They keep this power a secret, using it to cuddle their characters when they feel lonely, or on picnics when they go on trips to the woods. The Tamagotchi are friendly, pleasant, and very much like you would imagine them to be if they joined us in the real world.

But then one day, one of them makes the mistake of bringing their Devilgotch into the real world. He takes one look at them, waves his wand, and POOF! They're not on Earth anymore! They're in a strange new world, inhabited by Tamagotchi creatures... they're on Tamagotchi Planet!

They must journey through this world and somehow find a way home.

I'm looking for a maximum of 8 other players to play this game with me, but I will start it with however many I have two weeks from this posting. Please PM me with your character's profile. Here is the information I'm looking for in the PM:

Full name (of your character, not you, don't worry!)
Age
Physical description. Height, hair colour, eye colour, face shape, skin tone, body type, style of dress, other distinguishing marks, stuff like that.
A summary of their personality traits. Are they extroverted? Shy? Comformist? Rebellious?
A short history of their life. Where were they born? What kind of family? How did this affect them as they grew up?
Important relationships in their lives. Brothers? Sisters? I will help you guys decide which characters are closest friends with one another once I have all of your applications together.
Special skills. Can they sing? Draw? Do martial arts? Multiply anything in their heads? Do they have camping experience? Are they especially strong? Smart? Manipulative?
Which Tamagotchi did they have in their pockets when they were sent to Tamagotchi Planet? What characters were on them? You may have a maximum of five.

Here's an example of what I'm looking for, with the character that I will be playing.

Name: Paulina Willows, affectionately called "Lolly" by her friends

Age: 17

Physical Description: Paulina is a pale, dark-haired, dark-eyed girl, who takes her unremarkable features and plays them up in a very attention-seeking way. Her straight black hair is worn long down her back, but she always curls the front pieces. She loves to wear colourful eyemakeup and bright-coloured lip gloss, and sometimes she draws little designs on her cheeks and temples in liquid eyeliner. She's neither very tall, nor very short, and none of her physical features stand out much, so she instead she wears wild, visually complex outfits, with lots of layered textures and colours. None of her outfits were bought in a mall - always in thrift shops or little boutiques. She wants to be different, and she wants you to know it.

Personality: Lolly fancies herself the "creative type", so she sometimes retreats to her room to be alone and write and draw. But really, she's a very social person and can't stand to be alone for very long periods at a time. She really values her friends and would be lost without them. She is naturally good at school, though she doesn't try hard, so she skates by on fairly good marks, although her teachers know she could do so much better. Her favourite activities are dancing, listening to music with her friends, and walking around the city seeing interesting things like museums, art galleries, and little shops.

Life history: Lolly was born an only child in Athens, Greece. Her parents moved to Toronto to start a business when she was ten, and she never completely lost her Greek accent. She was teased about this a little in school, and instead of trying to cover it up, she embraced her difference. She since found her place in high school social life, but will always keep inside of her the feeling of being an outsider.

Important relationships: Paulina's most important relationships is her circle of friends! (Please apply to be one of them!!)

Special skills: Paulina is not bad with a guitar, and can sing to save her life. She is a fairly good writer. But her biggest skill is problem solving. She has a very analytical mind, and is good at studying a set of challenges and devising the best way to approach them. She is also confident and able to express herself, and this combination of skills makes her a natural-born leader.

Tamagotchi in her pocket: Paulina happened to be carrying 1 Connection Version 1 with a Kinakomotchi, 1 Angel with a Kuriten, 1 Connection Version 2 with a Hinotamatchi, 1 Connection Version 2 with a Dorotchi, and 1 Morino with a ChobiTamatchi.

Please join me! I think this will be a lot of fun.

Once I have all the applications and we have our own board, I will post what I call the "pose order" that tells you what the cycle is for posting (what order everyone gets to write). I would suggest subscribing to the thread so you can keep on top of what's happening and when it's your turn!

Regarding posting frequency: I will be very flexible with posting frequency, since I know we all have real lives to attend to. Wink Everyone will get a week to reply, but please please respond more quickly than that, because a good story has momentum! If your week goes by and you don't add, you will be skipped and the next person will be given the chance to post. If this happens a lot - well, I would say that I'd ask you to leave, but it would seem that you already did. Wink At any rate, your character would become an open character for anyone to do whatever they wish with them.

Some other requirements: I am going to be sort of serious about grammar and spelling in this story. If you would prefer to be more relaxed with your punctuation or use short forms like "u" for "you", please see my other games in the Free-For-All Section! If your character application has a lot of really bad grammatical errors, I will have to ask you to fix it before I accept it.

Along those same lines, posts to my game will have to be reasonably descriptive and lengthy. Here are some guidelines:

  • One-liners will not be permitted. I will ask you to revise your post, or possibly ask you to leave the game.
  • Something has to actually happen in each of your posts. Try to make it exciting! Any post long enough for something new and exciting to happen is long enough. This includes all the time and words it takes to fully describe the event so that there can be very little confusion about what you mean! If I feel that your post was not descriptive enough, or didn't give enough material for the next person to work with, I will ask you to revise it. If this happens too often, I may have to ask you to leave the game. Remember, this is a cooperative effort, and we want to help give the next person in line a lot of material and ideas to help the story progress!
  • When it is your turn to add to the story, you have primary control over your own character, but you will also be able to work with the other characters in the story to a limited extent. Since I would like a reasonable amount of plot to progress in each post, if your character is in a conversation with another person's character, you can fill in the other person's dialogue, as long as it stays within a sensible range of that character's personality and behaviour. If you feel someone else is stretching your character too far, let me know and I will take care of it.
  • One really great tip is to try to produce a bit of a cliffhanger ending! Make something exciting or shocking happen at the end of your post, so that the next person has to struggle to figure out what to do next! That will make this story really fun to create.

I'm really looking forward to hearing from you guys! I hope you like my idea and I think this will be a lot of fun.
