Does anyone still play this, the original that is? I hear there's a new one coming out/is out.

I've had cravings lately to play this, eventually I'll have to give in and look in on my town from so many years ago Smiley

I wouldn't count Animal Forest (aka A. Crossing) to be virtual pet game. It's more like "fantasy theme life simulator".

With "original" you mean the Nintendo64 one that was never released outside Japan, the GameCube one or Nintendo DS one?

Gamecube is the one I'm talking about. I don't ever get games from overseas because I don't wanna modify my machines to play them.

Oh I LOVE Animal Crossing on GC. Unfortunately I moved out of home, and my brother and I had to settle on who gets to keep the gamecube... he won.  --.--

But I do have a DS, and there IS Animal Crossing DS. I've been hinting at it for Christmas... or I may have to bite the bullet and pay up the $60 odd dollars to get it. I've been after it for many many months.

aww that's too bad you didn't get the gamecube. I don't know anything about the DS version but if it's anything like the first you'll probably love it and it'll probably be very addictive Smiley

Haha, definately.

And the idea that its so portable will be nice, take the town out and about. Never miss special events and holidays and the like.

DS game "Animal Crossing: Wild World" uses original Nintendo64 game's graphic engine with slight improvement, has online multiplaying features (friend's character can visit your town) with DS's WiFi (=online) feature which is interesting add-on.

DS can connect into Nintendo's WiFi service thru normal WLAN router though Nintendo sells their own "WiFi Kit" also.

heheh, yeah Animal Crossing for the DS is definitley on my christmas list! (as well as a DS) It's been a while since I got an up-to-date gaming system. I think my last was a gameboy advance.  Tongue

Welcome back, Kat! (I'm Simone, from the old mimitchi board)

I have Animal Crossing on my DS from one day and i think it's beautiful! With many surprise and happening, i agree it isn't a real virtual pet, but virtual animal-life simulator. It's exciting! Grin
