Today my girlfriend received a package from her mother which contained a bunch of old (and I mean really old) tamagotchis from a time when she was just a kid and these cute little virtual pets took up all her time.

Her absolute favorite was one called Akida, a tamagotchi that looks just like a big dog (St. Bernard or something like that) with a huge screen where its tummy should be (even bigger than the screens of today's tamagotchis) and thus naturally - the pet itself was a dog as well, named Akida (the name written on the toy itself).
Now, the problem is my girlfriend can't remember much of how you actually took care of Akida and because most of the icons and stuff you can do with it is different from regular toy pets, it's pretty hard to try and figure out as well...

That's why I'm creating this thread - hoping for someone to come to her aid with either an instruction booklet, which she herself has lost (no wonder when the toy is so  old, not even her mum knows where it could be), or at least pieces of information that could help her nurse her old favorite (as it is now Akida won't eat a single meal and neither of us can figure out why - seeing how he keeps pooping and is always thirsty).

Thanks in advance!

Go here and scroll down, then click on number 778. Is this the one that you're talking about?
If it is, I know a little about it, I wanna say your puppy can only eat a certain food until it gets older, and you have to press a button when it poops to help paper train it.
I'll see what else I can find. If thats not it, then I'm not sure which one you're talking about.

Close, but not quite it. This is what Akida looks like: http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=akidagu7.jpg

Should any of Akida's icons resemble those of the Pocket Puppy you're thinking of then please do find out more about it.

I will keep my eyes open. I have a few dog virtual pets I enjoy as well Wink Never heard of that one though. I don't think it's a tamagotchi type though, since it's not made by Bandai and has 4 buttons instead of 3.

Thanks TigerLily013, meanwhile my gf will just have to be patient and try learning by doing ^^

And yeah, it's not a "real" tamagotchi but all virtual pets are the same to me - they're all tamagotchis ^^

Oh I can't call everything a tamagotchi since that term is a brand name. LOL It just drives me nuts when others call it that haha! I just call'em virtual pets lol.

I'm sorry for bumping this topic, but I'd like to add something in response to the image posted of that Akida dog pet.

Way back in 1997, I had a virtual pet, which was a circular pet on a yarn-like necklace called 'Kimiko Baby Byte'. It's screen was extremely similar - if it weren't for it being a dog, I'd say it's the same pet! As the name suggests, mine was a baby human girl. If these are the same pet, I remember how to work it!

Pressing A and C scroll through the icons in different directions. On mine, there was food, drink, sleep, a rock/paper/scissors game, and various medicines, disciplines, and things to do with her. The icons are pretty self-explanatory. At the bottom using A and C you can scroll through and select with B the time, her weight, IQ and her love for you, amongst other things. On mine, winning the rock/paper/scissors game makes her IQ go up.

When it beeps one (or more if you've taken bad care of it) of the four attention icons will appear. On the photo the hunger icon is shown - no meters on this pet, it's either hungry or it's not. The other ones were, if I remember correctly, sadness, illness, and one of a man running, which means it died (or in the case of this pet, 'ran away'). Do what needs to be done when these come up.

These may vary with other pets - I've heard of bird ones being made at one point too.

Sucks that this guy hasn't been on since March.
Ah well, anyone else remember these pets? Mine was very nice - my first virtual pet, too.
Unfortunately mine is rather broken.
