Suggestions... Anyone have any suggestions for live chat programs or scripts? Right now I have one that I have in mind, but I'm having troubles finding alternatives, guess there isn't a whole lot out there anymore.

I wanna stay away from IRC, that didn't work out last time. Too many people had difficulites for various reasons.

I do wanna get something installed before the holidays, a group hatch would be nice - if there's enough people (it sure seems empty here lately Sad )

I'm trying to keep #tamagotchi alive in DALnet as much as possible. If no other reason, then just for old times and nostalgy.

You can come to visit me there ppl Smiley

Can someone teach me how to access this "DALnet"? Rarely do I find myself so technically inept!

Well there's a couple places where if you wanted to, make a chatroom and it would be a link of sorts.

www.everywherechat.com

http://chatstop.net/

Either one is good. Hope that helps to a degree. I say everywherechat a lot more with chatstop since its got less drama and I know the admin personally Smiley

It's network in IRC (Internet Relay Chat), a chatting protocol that existed even before this graphical internet, www was born. IRC was, and is still plain text-based communication way that was invented by Finnish university student in 1986 (WWW was made 1990 or 1991)

I'll make some kind of "How to use IRC client" topic here later when I have more time, but here's wikipedia link for IRC;

hmm well.. the question is, did anyone like the jIRC thing I had set up before? Did anyone hate it?

I still have it installed, just the page isn't linked anywhere.

If people like or prefer IRC I'm okay with going that way again.

I'm honestly having a hard time finding a good live chat system, one that i trust and one I don't ahve ot pay for. I really can't afford to shell out money for a live chat system right now.

Any thoughts?

Push it back online. Sure some of the forum users couldn't find working DALnet server and there was these annoying advertisement lines added into the chat text. but...

...we have nothing better at this time.

You can later change it to something else and more suitable if you/me/Brend find better chat service. I mean when we find Tongue

I don't remember was there any other problems with the chat than the "cannot connect to server" failures and those soo-nice advertisement lines.

Like I said everywherechat.com you can make free chatrooms on there. I made one on there long time ago. I know the guy who runs it and he said feel free to go there and ask for any help.

If you want me to get a hold of him and ask him bout helping you out, lemme know Wink

I really didn't like the look and feel of that place initially. But I'll relook at it. Maybe it's customizable. Smiley

Looks like everywherechat.com is gonna be the winner. it's basically the same as jirc, but it's hosted elsewhere and it uses IRC as well, which is cool cuz anyone can use mIRC to access it still (what can I say, I like IRC).

Thanks TigerLily013, of all the options right now that one turned out to be the best. When I visited before I missed the link showing that you can make your own room and access it directly, instead of going through their site.

I'll work on getting this all set up and it'll be here real soon.... =)
