Just one of those random questions.

I personally would rather be extremely happy. I've felt misery much of my life and finally things are better for me now. I'm certainly not very poor, but I'm certainly not making what I was some years ago when I originally got into collecting Tamagotchi. However, I'm much happier now then I was then and I had much more money back then.

Id definetly go with happiness. Whats the point of having all of that money if you arent going to be happy? You obviously dont need money to have a full and happy life...(although it DOES help..) Wink

Apologies to Plato for appropriating his argument structure (at least I think it's him I'm thinking of) — and to CaffeineChick, for repeating what she said so eloquently but wording it up unnecessarily: Wink

Money is good.
Happiness is good.
But money is a utilitarian good, and happiness is a good in itself.
Money is good because it is a utilitarian means to achieve a good in itself, namely happiness.
Therefore, money with the condition of misery negates the value or purpose of money.
Poverty with a condition of happiness makes money superfluous.
Therefore, I choose happiness! Cheesy

I'm thinking, happiness is fleeting because its conditional with circumstances. But joy is something that comes from within when we know we're living right; when we've done well in serving others, in keeping responsibilities, and sharing the burden. I married poor but we worked up to a comfortable position over several years. In weighing the joy/happiness factor concerning that, I'd say it's only increased but not because of money but because circumstances and trials have bonded our hearts deeper. Another factor is...are we content with where we are and where we're going in choices. Money is only a tool to accomplish some goals and maybe a few wants. It doesn't buy happiness or set the gauge for joy. And we know all too well how money comes and goes almost instantly. It's foolish to set a hope or standard on it. However, it may alleviate some life stresses. I would hope in whatever I do, whether here or in real life, that I'm loving and/or respecting others the best I can considering. And that is priceless.

An excellent  poll that makes you dig deep.  Smiley

If you're poor, but extremely happy, you can easily maintain that and get richer and richer.

Being sad is bad. Money can't buy happiness!
