So, I was just wondering if there are any Miyazaki <3ers out here.   Smiley  I am for one.  My very favorite movie is Kaze no Tani no Naushika, or Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.  I also like Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and Porco Rosso.  In addition, my favorite anime movie of all time is Steamboy, by Katsuhiro Otomo.  But that's a whole 'nother story.   Wink

What's your favorite?

"Someone secretly
Buried a nut in the side of the path
When a small sporut pops up, a secret code
A passport to the forest appear
And wonderful journey will begin

When it rains at the bus stop
And there's a drenched obake
(= ghost/monster)
Lend him your umbrella
And you get the passport
Magical journey begins"

I love Miyazaki's films! My favourites are My Neighbor Totoro and Grave Of The Fireflies. I also like Spirted Away, Nausicaa, Princess Monoke, Whisper Of The Heart, and The Cat Returns.

I haven't seen Pom Poko or Only Yesterday yet.

Edit: Oh, I forgot about Kiki's Delivery Service! I liked that one! Also, I didn't really like Howl's Moving Castle or Porrco Rosso.

I don't think anyone can watch a Miyazaki film without immediately falling in love with it. Smiley

My favourite is Princess Mononoke, but my two other favourites are Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service. Nausicaa is amazing, but I'm not as sentimental about it as the other three. Princess Mononoke's music stole my heart, and I first saw Totoro and Kiki when I was so young that I was still bilingual with Japanese. Smiley

Yeah.  If you're a first-timer, I recommend Nausicaa, but only if you think you can follow the story.  In my opinion, it and Mononoke are a little hard to follow.  Spirited Away is kind of weird, but not really creepy.  Kiki and Totoro are "family films".  Howl's Moving Castle is political, so if you're an anti-politician you wouldn't like it, I don't think.  Just me, though!   Grin

I was introduced to Totoro last year but that was through coming across plushies of Chibi Totoro and Chu Totoro. Being a lover of cuteness, I instantly adored them. Of course, my daughter had to fill me in on all the details of exactly what this cute character entitled.
