Happy GroundHog Day, everyone!! (Feb 2nd)

Will the groundhog see his shadow?
If so, then it's six more weeks of winter! Or so they say.  Wink

How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

No nothing serious just minor day surgery (dental work) but I will need a day to recoup and several t3's after that.  I need dentures, It will be good though once it's all done and over with.

Most dental work is murderous.  Undecided  I had braces once. I have never felt such constant agony, for the first two weeks, in my life. And dealing with the ortho dr was a pain as well. Best to you in all that.

How's the weather where you are?

Freezing cold as the wind picked up.  Only another month before all the snow goes though.  I can't wait!

Cute little animation Cheesy There was lots of talk about groundhog day down around here today, hehe.

It is FREEZING down here in Newfoundland. I just wanna bundle up in blankets and not go outside. Then again I would rather it be cold then hot. That is why I like fall the most. It's not to warm and not to cold, just right Wink. Anyways, hopefully it will warm up a little.

Yeah, and we just got ours. Winter came SO late this year. Usually we get staying snow in mid December, this time it came in last week of January...
But now we can ski and cross-ski \o/

Actually there's teeny weeny snowstorm going on at the moment <3

I hope the snows won't disappear before middle of April...

Back to the topic.

It's cloudy in here today (snow falling) so no sunbeams and no shadows, and what that means? Winter lasts longer than 6 weeks? (yay)
Not that we have groundhogs here...or prairie dogs either. Actually the largest rodent that doesn't climb trees or live under water (=beaver) is one vole which english name I don't know.

Here in Finland we have this saying around Winter Solstice day that (hibernating) bear turns a side and winter is half through.

We also have these sayings passed by old folks which goes the way; "If there's snow on the roofs in day X, there's no flowers blooming in day Y (that's later in the spring)" meaning that Spring is gonna be late.
We have many kind of variations of these, usually those are predicting the time when farmers can start planting crops and grain.
