I don't know if they knew it was broken, because I bought it with a dead battery which was so dead that it wasn't even 'humming' at you to change it. It was still in the package, with instructions, the plastic holder and even the little character thing. The back had been neatly opened in a line going vertical and an intersecting one going horizontal, and that was repaired with packing tape. If you looked at it closely though, the tab to start it was missing and the small crack where you see that the two pieces have been put together was larger than normal. This was because two of the four screws on the piece that held the battery to the actual programmed chip were missing. This was probably due to not paying close attention when they debugged it. I doubt anyone who doesn't have at least one Tamagotchi would have noticed the crack, or many other of the signs that someone had tampered with the inside of the Tamagotchi.

Wow! Finding a V4 at any store let alone a thrift store is a good find!  And for 3 bucks? That's a STEAL! Good job, and I'm glad it's normal!

Thanks Madcow Smiley! Actually, for all the work it took to figure out it was debugged and then 'bug' it again (and then the sound not working, but that was probably my fault), it was actually about half of a fair price.

Oh well, the sound is annoying anyways.  Most of the time the sound is turned off on mine anyways. Tongue Maybe that's why my V4 kept dying though..Sad

I like the sound on on my Tamas most of the time. I think it's especially usefull when I'm playing games like Flag.
