http://www.plasticbamboo.com/2006/11/13/tekuteku-angel-pocket-pedometer/

I think the link says it all Looks so cute.
Hudson Soft has created a new pedometer game where the weight of onscreen characters fluctuates depending on the number of steps taken. As additional encouragement, Tekuteku Angel Pocket, displays messages of its screen such as “Nice walking!” if you’re doing well. Furthermore, the pedometer can be hooked up to your Nintendo DS using the DS Tekuteku Diary in order to keep track of walked steps along with calorie info and other health data. The pedometer and diary will go on sale on 21st December for 5,229 yen (£23/$44).

I am going to order on come pay day this friday.  Yippie.

No doubt whether in Japanese or English, they're cool either way.

I'm definetly going to get one of these as I have NDS and like the idea of combining virtual pet and pedometer. I hope Tekuteku is going to get english release and if it doesn't I'm going to get it anyway Cool
I haven't bought anything from e-shops outside Finland so this's propably going to be my first "global" e-shopping.

No matter the language, I'm studying Japanese and might bet boost in my japanese characters studying this way

I already have Omron Walking Style 2, one of the best pedometers that exist. Calculates steps you take in single day (has inner clock), re-sets to zero at 12 AM (midmight) and can remember your total steps from past days up to one week past. Tells how long way you have walk (in kilometres or in miles) and how many calories you have burnt (calculates that from your weight that's also inputas one of the measurements)

These Walking Style 2s cost around 50€ (about 40-45$) but they are the best that's available in these days, most accurate in step counting.
I bought mine from local sports store around Mother's Day last year when they had pedometres and heartbeat monitors with -15% price Smiley
(I have the dark blue/light purple one)

Btw, seems that teku comes from technical/technology, so tekuteku means "technic-technic"

I got so excited when I read this post, Tamaboi! I used to have the original Tekuteku Angel until my dad broke it  and I've been trying to replace it for years. A new version that can link up with my DS? I went to YesAsia.com right away. Grin

Con: It's $53 CAD! That's no small investment.
Pro: That $53 covers both the pedometer and the DS game. It's not unheard of to pay $50 just for a DS game.

Con: The character doesn't actually grow the way Tamagotchis do (or like the original Tekuteku Angel, for that matter). It just "loses weight" with you. I can imagine that being more discouraging than anything else. What if the blob loses weight and I don't? I don't want to be jealous of my tamas!
Pro: The DS interface logs caloric information, which would be very interesting. My dad has been trying to push his calorie-logging pedometer gadget on me for a while (living alone + being a bad cook = Elana gained a lot of weight this year, ew).

My conclusion: This new version of the Tekuteku Angel might actually be less fun than the original, since it's missing the cute character changes and stuff (as far as I can tell). On the other hand, it's more useful, because it gives you real, relevant calculations about your activity levels. Maybe it's less of a toy and more of a tool?

I can't wait to read about your experiences with it, Tamaboi! What you write will definitely help me with my decision of whether or not to buy one. Smiley

Whoo, I just got vision of "Tekuteku Weightdroppers Club" campaign in TSS <3

With pedometres, the latest tip to keep yourself in shape isn't about how long way you walk, but instead how many steps you take daily.
Recommended amount is 10'000 steps per day and all above that is healthy extra ^^

When I was working in hayfield last July I took 15'000-16'000 steps on a day but now in the winter I have to go on a long walk if I want to reach that 10'000. My usual amount per day is around 7000...and there has came extra stuff around my weist

There was Tekuteku Angel in 90's? I've never heard of VP named this before.

Pink/white Tekuteku Angel looks like this

Another review/article of this new Tekuteku Angel pedometer VP. Some details of the character's growing up process.
