You could've been lucky, or you know what it looks like.

Half of the people who sell 'Tamagotchis' don't even know what they are. They just assume that it is one because the package probably says 'TAMAGOTCHI!!' or something along those lines.

But, eBay is pretty safe, but there are alot of fakes and you won't know it. And sometimes they copy the whole package, but instead of 'Tamagotchi Connection' they have 'Tomagotchi', and the font looks like an 'A' rather then an 'O'

Yep, that's why if you're a newbie to ebay, get the help of someone who's used ebay for a while to help you find virtual pets. That or do your research. I don't have sympathy for those who just jump into ebay expecting everyone to be honest lol.

I bought something from Ebay and got it.
Personally I check their Feedback level as others stated Wink.
But I really would like to buy stuff but I'm still just scared if they just take my money, and I don't have Paypal, I prefer Money orders..

I've bought a lot of stuff from ebay. (My feedback score is 28) I've once gotten a fake item, some adidas pants that I'm pretty sure are not authentic and 2 times the item has gotten lost in the mail but both sellers took responsibility for it, one sent another copy and one gave me a refund. So my experience on ebay is overall good. My father has actually bought 3 cars from ebay motors and have them shipped to Iceland, two via ship but one flew in  Grin
I got all my tamas on ebay except for 2 (one from amazon and my first one bought in the UK).

I think that looking at sellers feedback is crucial and also taking a good luck at the item and knowing what it is you're about to buy. When I'm looking at tamagotchi auctions and see all those fakes I feel sorry for the people who don't know any better than to buy them. I can even picture the mom whose children have asked for a tama buying some cheap knockoff just because she doesn't know the difference.

Purchasing fake eBay items are horrible, trust me. I accidently bought a fake GBA game.

the first thing you should look at is the picture. Does it look authentic? Can you see bits of a carpet or table or wall so then you know the seller hasn't gotten a picture of google images. Does it have proper Japanese on the packaging and not gibberish (Japanese Tama's only). Is the English typed up correctly on the packaging (as in, like "Super happy fun toy for kids to play" or "great toy" written all over it). If you haven't answered yes to every question, don't buy it. If you have, move on..

Next, do some reasearch. Tamagotchi Connection V5 and over haven't been released yet ANYWHERE, so don't buy them. Most boxes will have Mametchi or Memechi on them, plus some other tamagotchis. If you can't recognise a Tamagotchi (even after seeing whether it's real or not.) or there are random anime charcters on it, don't buy it. Next, is the seller. Check their feedbacks. See what other people have given them and what they've sold. If they're known for selling authentic Tamagotchi's buy it. Otherwise think twice just to be on the safe side.

This pretty much sums it up. However, I'm not trying to scare you or anything, go ahead and buy things off eBay. I'm just telling you to be on the safe side and check. Otherwise, have fun and happy bidding!

Well if you checked the seller's rating and feedback, as well as the price and shipping, it could be plainly seen if you ripped yourself off or not.

Read through the tips posted in this thread, I'm sure they would be great help to finding out. In general you will not get ripped off on ebay, there are many good sellers there.

I see/read a couple of people buying from ebay. It will be good to have a list of trusted ebay sellers that sells authentic tamagotchis.

First off these are the sellers I bought from before:
Ebay id: jr-rc (japan)
Store id: Jason's Store
-- Excellent seller, many of us bought from him. I am a repeated customer.

ebay id: 123eggshop (singapore)
- Some items are pricier, but not all. I bought from him regularly too and it helps that we are based in same country! Which means faster shipping time!!!!

ebay id: nippondeals_store (japan)
Store id: Japan Deals
-- Cheap pricing, but need to know what you are buying. Mixed Tamagotchis and non-tamagotchis and some fakes too. Buyer NEED TO know what you are buying.

ebay id: hkasiamall (japan)
- bought bulk batteries

There's another that I had bought from, but no longer on ebay -- new-samurai .

Please be an educated ebay buyer, research and know what you are buying first before bidding.

Please if you have other ebay sellers that you buy from regularly, maybe you may want to add on to my list.

Excellent post, thank you for posting this great info. Personal experience is by far the best notation, far better then any feedback ebay has.
