Today has been REALLY bad computer-wise.

My brother's computer has a horrible virus, and we had to reformat that. He hates this one. His computer has a really strong graphics card and one of the newest processors out there, but it's going really slow and unsmoothly.
I've been away from my computer the whole day, and I opened it a few minutes ago to find out that my Firefox lost it's REALLY REALLY big list of bookmarks, and it wont let me bookmark anything. D:

It may not be much of a problem to you guys, but it's annoying Sad

Sorry to hear about the virus, those can be extremely brutal. You might be able to recover your firefox bookmarks though. FireFox makes back ups of its bookmark files periodically, you should be able to find those files here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Brendan\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\rijgvidh.default\bookmarkbackups

Of course, the \Brendan\ directory will be whatever user account you're using to log into Windows, and \rijgvidh.default\ is probably a little different too, but you should be able to figure it out.

Anyway, there are a bunch of .html files in that directory. Copy and paste those HTML files into some other directory on your hard drive. Then, after they're in another spot, uninstall firefox from your machine complete, and grab a new copy. You can use the link in the left column of the forum to grab FireFox and then install a fresh copy.

From there, you can select File->Import...

Choose "From File" on the dialogue box that pops up, then navigate the .html files you just moved, and you should have all your book marks back^^

I'm sorry that your computer is sick... Mine loves to kill my AIM even though Norton tells me that it is perfectly healthy...

I feel your pain..My external hard drive with 250 GB of downloads kicked the bucket the other day, and I hope I can recover all my files...Sad  They took forever to get.

Wow and I thought realplayer freezing and crashing a bit more often this holiday season was a lot of garbage  Sorry to hear about that stuff. Could it be also that you may have spyware/malware in your computer to cause firefox to act up like that? I dunno much bout firefox but I know the more bad stuff in your computer (besides the virus) the worse your computer can act.

It's possible that a virus is effecting Firefox, but normally viruses effect IE because of its "popularity" and because it's tied directly into an operating system (at least on windows machines). But a spyware/adware/malware/virus check is a good place to start Smiley
