Well it is not so much of them getting them first it is that everything they get is 100 times better than the american counter part....and the japanese ones are still made in china just like ours.  So that theory doesnt work all that well, Elana

I'll settle this, and then I'll lock the topic because we've gone significantly off the original intention of the thread: Elana's comment has nothing to do with where the item was manufactured. It has to do with where the concept and money for creating and marketing the toy came from.

Japan does not get significantly cooler items than America in the grand scheme of things. Examples: Home computers (Apple, Microsoft, Dell, etc all American), produce (ever seen what an apple or a watermelon goes for in Japan?), clothing (try buying a pair of Levi's from a japanese store without paying through the nose). And the list continues.

So let's try and educate ourselves a little more before we start tossing around generalizations.
