So I was wondering. I just got two V3's today and they are great. But I'd love if I could get my orrigional V1 up and running again. It's batterie died a long time ago and so did the backup one. Now I know the orrigional V1's were notorius for that. Was it just that Bandai included a really bad battery with it? Or was it somthing about the toy itself? If I got it a new batterie, (a good one) would it eat it up just as quick?

I ask because even though I have three of the newer battery friendly V1's, my first is my favoright and I loved my little pet I had on it, I hate the thought of him being stuck in suspended animation on the Tama's flash memmory forever waiting for me to come and wake him back up And I'd like for him to breed with my new Tama V3's since they both hatched as girls.

I honestly had no problems with my first and second or third V1. But I think peopel who got them before me did. My guess is that the battery was defective. Perhaps get new batteries that aren't used and try them in there. If they don't work well then something is wrong with the tama itself. You should be okay Hope any of this helps.

From what I know about the first wave of V1s, they were actually defective themselves. They just drained batteries really fast. If you got one of the lemons, I'm afraid putting in a new battery won't help.

On the other hand, my V1s have a normal battery life, but certain brands of batteries die really fast. I've tried three brands: Duracell is good, and this industrial brand that I found for cheap at a surplus store also works well, but the house brand at The Source electronics store (we have them around Toronto, not sure if they exist elsewhere) dies within a week. I don't know what it is about their batteries, and they claimed that I was the first person to complain (they gave me free replacements, which also died in a week). I'm sticking to trusted brands now.

Oh yeah, well I've found that it's always best to stick with name brands when it comes to any battery. Not just the little button cell ones used in virtual pets. You really get what you pay for you know?

I just feel dissapointed with Bandai every time I look at my first wave V1, they released a shoddy bit of merchandise and never did anything to fix it for the customers who bought them. I have three of the later V1's that don't suck power but the color of my first is my favoright

I actually ordered Maxell batteries for connections and such a while ago. I notice they also kmake decent batteries too. And the 1.5V LR44 batteries I got for some of my guys are doing well so it's not all that bad

I'll attest to the fact that the first wave of V1s were defective.  For me, the batteries only lasted for two weeks at a time!  And I had to buy expensive ones from jewelry stores, because the ones you could get at convenience stores only lasted a day.
