My name, if you're a Tama fan, is very obvious and straight-forward. My first Tamagotchi Plushie (and only at the time) was a Masktchi Tamagotchi keeper. It was like my icon, the mask and googly eyes, blue. I suppose I liked his unique look and adapted it as my persona online. It worked in some ways too. Masktchi's interesting sleep schedule would become very much like mine. XD And there've been times, especially online, where I felt I have been very mysterious, secretive or just 'masked' for whatever reason. I thought it was a cool and somewhat fitting image. After ten years, even though I was not really into Tamagotchi for that period, it has stuck with me and been a subtle reminder of my past, and why I've kept it.

The name has lignered with me in various forms. Battle.net handles, my Diablo 2 characters. It is still used for my email/messaging identity. My main character on WoW is still named Masktchi, with a rogue named Masukutchi (I've tended to use the latter for stealthy, ninja like characters... or a monk, in the case of RO). I've used derivations of the name as well, notably in D2 and on Battle.net. It just always stuck with me, and I loved how unique and avaible it was in whatever I used it for.

Speaking of RO, for anyone familiar or interested, it was also my initial identity on there, for my paladin (Masked One). Derivations lingered within my alt characters, but my Paladin, upon the first of two server rebirths, would come to be reborn as Repent. It was a more fitting and available name, but of course WoW would eventually find me wander back. Masktchi is a lot more unique then Repent. XD I also go by King Gosu-Man on Starcraft (kind of an inside joke... 'Gosu' is Korean for pro, as in very skilled) and have, I suppose not surprisingly, been labelled a few times as Chinese/Japanese/Korean/[generic oriental label here]. XD

So yeah, even though my name seems anything but original or special here, both being outside of this realm for so long and its origins have instilled an attachment to the name, and a feeling of uniqueness, individuality. It really has become my anonymous identity. Smiley

...For those of you who will point out my not-very-shadowy welcome post, well... Masukutchi does become Gaijintchi!  Grin Actually a neat, fitting metaphor now that I ponder it.

You know, Masktchi could be really cool and dark super hero if you think about it. Taking the blue (a few shades darker though) and black theme and applying it to a Batman-esque outfit. Kind of like how my intriguing moniker emerged from something that a person might giggle at, had they known any better to the origins. Guess that's the true heart of being Masukutchi...
