Right now I'm using two programs for animations: Adobe Flash, and Adobe Image Ready. Image ready is kind of like a sub program for Photoshop, where you can import a layered file and create an animation based on that. Only problem is, they're expensive
The upside to both of these programs is if you get a copy of the educational software (like if you're a student or a full/part time faculty member), you'll pay significantly less for the program, and you can use them for any purpose, commercial or otherwise. Yes, I know what you're thinking: "here goes LM promoting piracy again
." But the Adobe software license for educational products actually allows you to use the software for any commercial purpose. It will even allow you to do so after you have ceased being a student/teacher/whatever. It's one of the most flexible educational licenses I've seen, and I highly suggest that if you want to learn some web/print design programs, those are really the ones to pick up.

I have ulead GIF animator, which you can get for free at the ulead website..It's REALLY easy. You just take a bunch of pics you want to animate, and you go in the "Animation Wizard" and you put all the pics on there, and TA DA they're all together. Heh. It's that simple.
It kinda sucks though if you want to make large animations (more than 100 frames) because then you have to import each image one by one individually..which can get really annoying...
But if you want to make a little avatar for this website, I'd say it's perfect for that. Too bad it's only a month trial or whatever.

Not true. Friend of mine got me photoshop 7 pirated with imageready and I just had to put in the code thing and I got it for free lol. May not be the most recent one out but it works fine for me. Just search around online if you know what you're doing or get a techy person to help you guys who want imageready. I use it as well for projects of mine lol. Used to use it alot along with paint to make virtual pet sigtags. I got too high in demand to keep up and I quit doing them on TZ. Depending on my spare time, I could make some for people. Animated or not

Yeah, but it's still piracy. Photoshop's never free legally.
There are cheap alternatives, even free ones like the
GIMP
. Photoshop's expensive for a reason: it's made for people to make money with. If you just want something for image creation, use the open source stuffs^^
