Hello everyone,

I recently received an email from a new member saying he signed up, posted and realized when he looked at his post he could see his email address. He went right to his Profile to find a way to hide his email address. Upon finding the Hide Email address option was already checked, he found when he went back to his post he could still see his email address. He promptly removed his account and wrote me an email with his concerns.

For anyone confused about this, I'd like you to know that if the check box to Hide Email is checked, than your email *is* hidden from all other members (admins, of course, can see everything). You can check this, for example, by looking at any posts by Lord Monkey or myself, as both our accounts have email hidden turned on.

When you look at your own posts you will see all your information, including your email, as the system does not hide anything from you that is in your own account. If you are really really concerned you can also create a second account to double check to see what another member sees, or have a friend verify.

Also note that non-members cannot see your email address no matter what you set it at.

We are very concerned about email privacy as everyone online should be, we would not want your information compromised any more then we want our own information compromised.

I hope this clears up any potential questions there may have been on this topic.

If anyone has any questions on this topic or anything else feel free to reply, email or PM!

Thank you for going to such lengths to ensure our emails and other private info is protected from wandering cyber-eyes who do not have a need to know. I had the same concern but soon realized that I saw it because I was a member who was logged in.

The more I read, the more I'm impressed with the quality of this forum and its staff/members. Other sites might brag about being the best but if it's fact, there is no need to brag because the proof will be in the pudding as it is clearly here.

Well done.

Aww thanks so much.

I am personally very picky about information I give at other sites and I'm one of those people that read all the fine print on everything. I wanted to make sure that in creating this forum that if I weren't an admin here - that I'd feel safe signing up as a member. There's a lot of bad people out there who are just waiting to take advantage of the rest of us. I refuse to give them any opportunity if I can help it.

I also check for forum updates on a daily bases - SMF is very concerned about security issues as well - it's one of the reasons I chose them. This eliminates any possible chance of having security exploits present and that sort.

I wouldn't wanna say we are the best. I'm just not that kinda person. There's always someone better - no matter what - it's just how the world works. I think some people would not say we are the best - we have less members then some of the other forums, we have less activity per day and we've only had this up and going since Nov 1st.

But those people can have their numbers, I don't care. Because... I will say we do have some of the nicest people I've ever met in the Tama Community and I wouldn't trade that for larger numbers...  Quality > Quantity. ^.^

I tend to ramble on... I'm sorry. I do appreciate your compliments and I'm happy to have you here. Smiley

Since you've only been up a little over 2 months I'd say you've a seriously good start.

I've visited a few other boards but they didn't have the mix of ages that you have here, so that much I greatly appreciate. My daugher and I share our tamagothis and I find them highly additive.

Ramble as often as you wish. I'll do some myself.  Grin  Between us that should prove most enjoyable if not at least interesting.

Thank you for the welcome.  Smiley It's a pleasure to be here.
