Although not nessicarily a virtual PET... it's really close! It's a virtual creature that you have to feed and it can grow into over... umm, let's see here... 78 different adults. EAch of them are in groups of 5 that are similar to eachother with the exception of 3, so it's kinda like 15 different adult groups, or 5 adult groups for each of 3 different alighnmetn, as they have good bad and neutral alignment's as well... umm, anyway, here's a site with lots of pictures! Many of the chao in the pictures are either Jewel Chao(A certian shiny color) and/or one of the 3 Special(Chaos) Chao though, but whatever.

I followed your link but I'm still confused... how do you get these pets? Is this like a console game? Please explain more!

oh  i know those!! thats the sonic game right?
i really really suck at taking care of those. i dont know how to  get all those special characters but they are very fun!

This Chao thing is in Dreamcast/GameCube game Sonic Adventures (and propably in SA2). They have subgame named Chao Garden or something where you can raise your Chaos.
