I like all of those ideas. The 24th and 1st seem like popular dates. I also think having a monthly hatching is a good idea, so that there's always one around the bend for newcomers or people who missed the last one. I do think, however, that it should switch around time of day each month, so that it will favour different time zones on different months. It wouldn't be fair to make the Aussies wake up early every time and have it be at a comfortable time for Americans every time, just as an example.

How about if we have 3 different timezone tables and they switch so once in every 3 months Americas, Europe and Australia/East Asia each have evening hours in chat time.

U-Hour for USA, E-Hour for Europe and A-Hour for Australia/Asia Smiley

What's the best hour of the day to have chat? PM 8? PM 9?

My vote goes to 8PM as the ideal time of day to chat. I'll be home from work but not out at a party yet.  Grin

Ok, I'll calculate these 3 different versions of timezone table and post them here, so Kat can use them in advertisement for the new switching chat hour system.

Ok, here comes the three versions of Group Hatch time plan. One is optioned for USA, others are for Europe and Australia/East Asia.

NOTE: These tables are not 120% correct final versions, there still might be couple of mistakes but I didn't find any even after 3rd check

Nice plans. Smiley

I think U-plan would be unsuitable for me, and Europeans, because I am only awake at that time when I can't sleep (being that bad news).

Plan E is OK, and I think Plan A would be the best for me (and now we will have to see if it is also as good for everyone else, because its meant to suit everyone Wink) because I will be up at 11AM, and although I may not get to go on the computer, I will be starting up my new V4 b-day present at that hour! :p

Kat:
I've always been interested about time differences between countries. We have far relatives in Philadelphia US east coast and I knew it's 7 hours between Finland and them and I liked to count from clock what the time is in their place when it's XX hours in our's etc. Mum also has friend who married Aussie guy and they live(d) in Australia East Coast. I calculated also time difference between us and them, just for fun.

Rare Europeans are awake that hour, but U-plan is more optioned to USA ppl than us so we just need to be patient and wait next GroupHatch/chat event.

Personally, I'm very pleased with the way the times worked out for my time zone. I'll be cycling through two in the afternoon, ten at night, and five in the morning. That's perfect! Two in the afternoon is a comfortable time, but I'm more likely to be busy and away from my computer. Ten in the evening is comfortable, but it's still possible that I'll have plans (especially if it's a Saturday night). But five in the morning, I am guaranteed not to have plans! I have no problem waking up early for a group hatch (especially since I can just go back to sleep afterwards), so I know that at least once every three months I will definitely be able to participate!

Awesome work Kokuma.
