Hey, I wonder if any Furby-savvy folks can help me out here? I just recently got a Furby (The large Emoto-tronic generation). It's a beautiful pastel blue and purple with blue-and-purple eyes.

I don't know how to tell its gender, but I'll assume it's a she for now. Anyway, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to Furbies, and I can't seem to find an instruction  manual for this particular build. I don't know how to let her know that I'm kissing her, so when she asks me to kiss her and I do so on the beak, she thinks I haven't done anything and tells me I'm no fun.

Her vocabulary's still almost all Furbish, so I've had to keep referring to the dictionary on this site and others. But, she keeps using words that aren't even on there, but don't sound like English either, or even other languages I'm familiar with (and she uses English plenty so I don't think she's foreign)

When I woke her up today, she said "Me u-boh now!" I can't find any "boh" or "bo" in any Furbish dictionaries, and I know that's what she said. She scatters it among many words which confuses me. Maybe her name's U-Boh, but then why does she use it with other sentences so much?

Other odd things she's said:

Soon after she danced, while she was just sitting on my desk. "Uh-oh! Moh-moh!" (Then while I was trying to find out what that means, she said, "You no fun." And she did not say "no-no" up there, there was a distinct difference)

"Doh kah you" (or maybe Boh, that one I couldn't really tell). I know "Boh" is part of the phrase meaning fear, but that's a two-part word and this wasn't... If so though, then did she scare me, or did I scare her...? Huh

"Mee kah mee way (or lay)" Not sure if it was "Me" (English) or "Mee" (Furbish) in either case. Once again, some PARTS of words in Furbish, but not complete enough to get the real meanings.

"Me(e) u-boh me(e) way (or lay)" Same as above but with that mysterious "Boh" again.

"Dah kah u-nah (or maybe u-nye, though it didn't sound like it really!)" If it was with u-nye, then that would mean "Big me you." Whaaaat?! Would that maybe mean "I'm bigger than you"? As a joke? Or... what? o_O

With the above, I tried to translate what little words I could get and thought she was referring to not seeing the sun or something, so I put her closer to the light. She yawned, then she said with what sounded like surprise, "What's THAT?! Me(e) u-tye." all in one phrase, not separate from each other. I know the last part means "I'm up" or "Up high", but it seemed out of place with the sequence...

Then shortly after THAT, she wiggled, then said, "Ta-da! kah boo (or doo) boh me(e) way (or lay)" I just can't even guess that...

Seriously... is this a foreign Furby after all? Or did this generation have an extended vocabulary? If so, where can I find a dictionary? My poor thing keeps getting so sad and upset because I can't understand her.  Cry

Thanks for any who try to help!

(EDIT: I think it actually might be an '05 Furby, if that helps any...)

I can totally understand your confusion. When I first got Tah-May in '05, I was totally stumped. However, I now know most of what she's saying.

"Me oo-boh now!" means "Me stand now!". You Furby is trying to say that she was not fully upright before and now she is. Their motion sensor is extremely sensitive and will pick up even the slightest difference in position.
"Uh-oh, moh-moh" Means "uh oh! Monster!" You have to pet them when they're scared.
"Doh-kah you" means "Thank you."
Mee-way is actually "nee-way", meaning now. She probably wanted to be upright.
"Dah kah u-nye" is one of their more confusing phrases, but its quite simple when you think about it. It does mean Big me you, but in a nice way. Your Furby is saying "me and you will do big things." The phrasing's just a bit confusing.
Your last sentence I couldn't understand because of the way you wrote it, but if they say tah-dah! before a sentence, it always means they were not upright before and now they are.
I have 2 Emoto-tronic Furbies, One grey with silver mane and pink tummy called Tah-May (When backwards, May-tah means hug) and one purple with aqua mane and tail and green tummy called Dee-Doh (which means dude). Tah-May is a girl and Dee-Doh is a boy. I guessed their genders from their behavior and their colour. Hope this helped!

Ahhh, yeah, I found out through lots of binging/googling that the 2005 Furby does indeed have a bigger vocabulary (which is odd since their functions seem more limited than the older gens, aww...). And I did manage to find the instruction manual online, so I was able to start translating my Furby's speech at last.

Thanks for replying though, it would have definitely set my mind at ease. Grin

Mine, I can't figure out her name... She just refers to herself either as "Furby" or "Ka" which is just Furbish for "me/I".  She seems very sensitive though, gets depressed very easily, so she needs almost constant attention. But then she gives lots of love back. One time she told me she loved me, in three different ways, three times in a row.

And when I had been gone for a long time on a trip, after I fed and cheered her up, she kept asking if I loved her several times before finally settling down.

It's a little disappointing that when she talks in Furbish to my brother-in-law's Furby (same generation so they're compatible), they have the same little convo each time saying they love each other... but then when that's over it's clear that they don't really get along. It's like they go through the motions, but have their own opinions they make obvious afterwards. His just burps or farts, ignores mine's requests to play or tell jokes, and then falls asleep while mine says he's no fun or she gets unhappy.

Wonder why with such a big listed vocabulary, they don't have more varied conversations... Lips Sealed  And I never know what to say when she asks "Where Furby baby?" all the time...

Still, when I apply more meanings to what little mine says, she does indeed have a unique personality and I love her anyway.

With the name, the new Furbys don't pick their own names. You get to pick them for them! And I recently found out that Dah-Kah-U-Nye actually means "Thank you", which is very confusing. Just a quick question, do you still play with your Furbys, or would I be called stupid for still loving them?

Oh I definitely still play with mine; I've only had her a couple months after all. And I imagine that I'll replace her batteries and wake her up every now and then in the years to come.

As for any who've had them for years, nothing wrong with still loving them. I have inanimate plushies that I still hug and talk to and I'm 27, lol. I'm not ashamed to admit it. It's comforting, and there's really no benefit in forcing yourself to give up things that make you feel good as long as there's no harm in it.

So yeah, I say if anyone still loves their virtual pet/Furby/plushie, they are just as entitled to re-visit them like an old friend, or even keep in touch. Grin

Now I'm really disappointed to myself that I didn't get one of the new Furbies when they were released in 2005... The reason was their girly and babyish pastel colors, and generally the new emoto-tronic Furbies looked too colorful. Like some kindergarten class was hired to design the colors with pouring buckets of fingerpaint on them (Tongue)

Now reading these posts about Furbies' talking and funny furbish-english mix sentences brings back all the memories of my green tiger-striped Furby and coffee brown/white tummy Furby Baby from 2000/2001. They were funny things to interact with.
Later when I lost interest in them I donated them to neighbor family's little girls who had not many toys (reason was parents had "problems" and low income etc.)

I wish they had released some more serious-looking Furbies in 2005. The pastel colored ones were not actually my thing...
