Hi everyone.  My name's Pixel, and I'm a 19 year old college student.  I was into the Tamagotchi craze with everyone else in 1997, but my parents were really strict about stuff like this, so rather than letting me have dozens like all of my friends, they only let me have one.  I remember it so well; a little blue Angelgotchi that I took as good care of it as a seven year old could.  Needless to say, my little darling vanished years ago.  Now when I ebay Angelgotchi, I have to cry at the $70 price tags I see...

When I was in eighth grade, the first Tamagotchi Connections came out, my little sisters and I purchased some v1s.  As the year went on, my sisters and our neighbors all got sick of their Tamas, which were all bestowed onto me, as I was the only one who was still interested.  I now have my original dark purple one (with orange swirls), a light purple (with dark purple bubbles), an orange one, a green one (with dark green squares), and a solid lavender, all v1.  I took my dark purple one to school every day, who ended up being my dearest friend when I was mercilessly bullied by a very nasty girl.  I have so many memories of hanging out at home with my darling Mametchi to keep me company when no one else would.  Once high school drew near, I let the batteries run out of my Mametchi (which took only like a day.  How awful those batteries were!), and let my hobby die.

Now, as a freshman in college, my mom asked me to clean out my room over Christmas in order to make my room into a guest room.  Lo and behold, what do I find?  My v1 tamas!  Realizing that I now have my own credit card, ebay account, and pay pall account, I went on a massive, month long search to find the perfect tama.  I have selected a Japanese P1 that's magenta with little blue numbers on the egg part.  It should be arriving any day now, and I am so excited to have a tama whose batteries should last longer than a week, and who should be very simple to take care of while I focus on all that goes on in college.  I look forward to turning this into a hobby, and I look forward to making friends with other enthusiasts and enjoying all of the love and company that comes with tamagotchi!

Also, if anyone sees my darling little angelgotchi, please let me know ;_;

Much love,

Pixel

Hi, Pixel, welcome to the forums! I'm Rollercoaster, and I'm sort of new to these forums, too.

Reading your story reminded me how sad it is that high school often causes kids to loose their beloved hobbies for some reason or another. I know that I was the same way, and I just recently got back into tamagotchis by ordering a classic version 2 from ebay. There are quite a few good deals on the site, and if you keep looking, you're bound to find something nice.

Hey thanks, Rollercoaster!  I appreciate that someone took the time to read my really boring story

Tamagotchi was really the only hobby that I let fall when I got to high school.  I made a lot of friends by playing various versions of Pokemon while at school, and I never stopped collecting ugly dolls or Tokidoki vinyl figurines, so I don't really have an explanation for letting Tamagotchi fade out.  I'm dying to get my p1 Tama in the mail, though!!  I'm really excited!  I hope that this is something I can love even as I grow older.

Nah, your story wasn't boring. Also, uglydolls are definitely something I'd like to collect (I'm working on my anime/video game character plush collection right now, though), and I'll certainly be getting Pokemon Heart Gold or Soul Silver when they come out. Looks like we've got a few things in common.  Grin
