I just bought Tamagotchi for Game Boy (the original one) and hatched the first egg. I have Umbra the 2-year-old baby hopping around now. A useful Tama fix when my usual tamas have gone to bed. Smiley

I remember the gameboy Tama.. a lot of insanely cute animations, it was really ahead of it's time at the release, it really brought a whole buncha new ideas to the average virtual pet experience.

There was also Tama GB 2 (Morino/Umino) and Tama GB 3 (Osu/Mesu) in Japan but those never ended up to be released in USA and Europe.

I've played Morino/UminoTama GB with emulator. It has some adventure game features as you are Mikachu (the girl from Tama advertisement with roundy pigtails) who has an aquarium and terrarium in her room, wanders around in the woods and on the shore and keeps encounting different colored Tama eggs which hatch into Umino and Morino babies.
There's also different kind of shops and other places in nearby town for Mikachu to visit, and a space station where you can send your Tama into space with spaceship(?). I can't read japanese so I don't know what those stores and places in town are for.

I've never played Tama GB 3 (Osu/Mesu one) but have seen couple of nice screenshots in internet. As far as I know, Tama GB 3 has some 2-player features through GameBoy connection cable. Mating perhaps?

I have, on the GB game, a Tarakotchi named Gerry.  He is five years old currently, although he's about to go to sleep in which case he'll be six.
