I have a problem with this forum, some times when I view a topic it won't load and a bunch of IE popups fill my screen. Is it something with my computer or something wrong with the forum? Its not much of a problem to me because it rarely happens

What IE are you using?

I use 6 at home and 7 when I'm at work, and I haven't had any popups pop up with this forum. I suggest checking your computer for any adware or spyware and making sure your popup blockers if any are turned on.

Hope that helps.

Um, regardless of what browser you use (although I'd suggest not using IE) and the popups' contents, there shouldn't be popups occurring on the forums. I'd suggest scanning for malware ASAP.

Just as others have said, this forum does not utilize popups. SMF is an open source forum community program that does not use popups. The only advertising you will see are the small static ads from google on the sidebar which do not employ popups - they are text ads only (I set this option when I put them there). There is no program or any other system in place that should generate popups from this site.

Is there another website open you might be going to at the same time that is causing this?

I'd suggest updating your virus checker and doing an entire computer scan, including system boot files. If it doesn't find anything you may want to go through your system processes and look them up one at a time in google to see if there is anything running that should not be (this is the assumption you are on windows, I don't know how this works for mac). There are programs, like spybot- search and destroy, that are good for finding spyware on your system as well (but be careful what you download).

If the problem started only recently, think back to anything you may have downloaded and installed that might be causing issues.

Some types of freeware might be doing this as part of the agreement to using the freeware program.

There are a number of things this could be, so I hope you are able to find out the problem without too much hassle.

I think it might just be IE, because I recently got safari and tried it, no pop-ups. Thanks for all the help Smiley

I'm not sure what that has to do with the topic you resurrected, but please don't bump REALLY old topics just to get a post in. You could of made a topic separate reflecting whatever you were talking about.
