they have to an adult and one have to be a boy and the other has to be a girl
after there are 4 smilies you have to get 4 hearts, and then they'll breed

yes, you have to get an adult first
to get hearts you just connect the tamagotchi many times..
just like how you get smiles

To speed up the process, make sure you get them to best friends which is either 4 smiles or 2 hearts and 2 smiles before adulthood. It won't go any higher than 4 smiles I think. Then once you do become adults just connect once or twice and presto! 4 hearts, true love and a whole lotta shakin' goin' on! *cough* XD

When they "breed" are the eggs left behind righ away or does that come later?  and by breeding is it the kissy-face/billowing hearts all around?

I just got a Tama v3 for my daughter and ended up getting one for myself as well.  This is our first experience with the tamagotchi's  So if any one can help we thank you.

Well, the breeding act itself is pretty G-rated: it's just some beeping and fireworks, and then there's a little baby tama hanging out with the parent. Some time after, the parent tama leaves and you're left to raise the young one.

Have fun with your V3s^^

Well we got the fireworks indeed!  I guess our V3's needed/wanted to wait one more day.  thank you for your answer.
