Digimon Pausing

So it's been a while since I kept Digimon. I currently have an Agumon right now, following my Meramon I had hatched about a couple weeks earlier. I had paused him earlier during a trip I was on, cleverly remembering that I had to put him to bed before stopping the clock actually worked. Now this could be just me, but I noticed after I unpaused him that he was needier, slowly starting to eat more and more. I actually wondered about his age too. I guess he was fairly old for a Meramon, but had the internal clock ticked off years while he was sleeping, artifically aging his life away?
That's essentially my question, when your Digimon is put into chyro hibernation, as it were, does he actually get older? In the sense of his age counter, and in terms of his actual growth?

To answer my own question, the internal timer is responsible for Digimon aging, both actually and as listed in the status screen. Also, if your Digimon "paused" (as in chryo-hibernation, asleep with his clock stopped) changing forms/evolving seems to restart the clock. My I could've sworn I heard a Digimon beeping from my room when I went downstairs, my Tokomon was cared for and not due to fall back asleep for another hour. When I heard distinct, distant beeping form behind me at 1AM, I realized it could only be my Agumon (or rather, my Devimon with 2 poops at 2PM. >_>'). I guess when they're forced into that deep sleep state, they can change silently during their sleep, restarting a SET clock. This explains the sudden jump in my Meramon's neediness.
