So out of boredom I tried to connect to the IRC Tamagotchi room today. I launch ChatZilla and load the room, and the server gives me an alert telling me that I need to register.
I was able to come in as an unregistered user before... D: Is this new or have I been kicked out?
Also, how would I go about registering?

I guess everywherechat server is requiring people to have registered nicknames to remain on the server. Jiro was having a horrible time at the hatch because he couldn't get in unless he was under a guest name.

What you might have to do when wanting to enter the irc room is make your name a guest name or something like "guest12345" THEN connect into the server and enter the room. Once you enter the chat, then type in "/nick" then your name so if you want your username to be bob type /nick bob.

Now if it honestly will not let you even change your name, I think you need to register the nickname either on the website everywherechat.com OR do it through the flash chat client as opposed to IRC. Things have changed a lot in the last while on that bloody server >_>;;

I believe there is a irc channel or another chatroom on that server known as #support where you can get further help there. OR if you go to everywherechat.com there might be some FAQ or ways to get answers to your questions there.
I know this is a huge pain in the butt (I had to register the chatroom like 3-4 times for the halloween hatch T_T blah!). Seems like ever since Wiggy left that server to form his own, the owner of everywherechat just raped the buh-jesus out of the place and made it really annoying to deal with.

I know one of the staff who still remains there known as jibbajabba. I'll ask him about this problem as well in private and see how it can be solved.

I talked with Jibba about your problem Priestess. If you're using IRC, you can't get into the chat normally because your name has to be registered to use it on IRC. It's to prevent floodbots. To register your name you'll have to go through the flash chat client. Here's what he said:

Quote
<jibbajabba> when they are in flash
<jibbajabba> using the nickname they want
<jibbajabba> they need to click the v next to options
<jibbajabba> and click register nickname

This might also explain why Jiro had so many problems. Jiro if you read this, Jibba suggests you visit the everywherechat forums to post the problem there...although to be honest I don't see much point personally. But if you wanna try it, let me know and I'll link you to the place in private. Jibba also thinks it might have something to do with the computer you were using in Vancouver because he has some ISP's banned on the everywherechat server. But this is all guessing.

In the meantime, Jiro, with your permission I'll register your username for you since I can access the flash chat client, and can pass on the password through PM if you wish. Or if you want someone else to do it, just follow the instructions Jibba gave regarding how to register I just mentioned above, and get your friend to do it. Either way, let me know your decision.

Hope this helps!

When I try to connect to the IRC server, the hostname cant be resolved anymore. Is anyone having similar problems? Is my ISPoptonline having DNS problems with that specific address? Can any of you who can connect please tell me the IP address of the server?

Thanks,
Mike

The only thing I can think of is because the chatroom's been inactive for a good while, it's been unregistered. A lot of irc chat servers after a time a chatroom is dead with no one in it, its set to expire after an amount of time. It hasn't been re-registered yet to exist.

Not many folks were using it often enough so it hadn't been re-registered yet.

When people want to use a chat again, just have to give our awesome admin/owner of the forums Kat a shoutout and see what goes from there.

Komina has just reactivated it today.

It's Kokuma Roll Eyes

And yes, I reactivated the channel #tamagotchi earlier today and battled against the awful flash-based webIRC client about 30mins, finally realizing how to manage and operate the channel security and auto-op systems.

There's basicly nothing there yet, just me alonely idling there sometimes, and the chatroom might not be much more active before the hatch day.

I haven't tried again yet, but when I tried previously, I couldn't even connect to the server so I never got a chance to try the room.
