Having a Small Pixel Problem...Any Suggestions?

So, if you've been reading my logs, you'll have heard that to remember to pause and unpause them as needed I've been keeping my Tamas in my bathroom by my contact case and everything. ...Well, this morning I went in there a little befuddled, I guess, and in the process of putting in my contacts my V3 fell of the counter and clattered to the ground.
That
woke me up, so I immediately bent down to see if everything was alright. ...Unfortunately, everything wasn't alright. It's a little hard to describe, but, ah, the Tama landed screen-down on the floor, and now half of one of the vertical rows of pixels on the screen has gone out. It's not like they've become permanently light...
they're actually not there.
It's like when the batteries die, and the screen is blank. Except that it's only in this one area.
My first thought was to replace the batteries, but then when I thought about it, I wasn't sure if that would do any good. This is the only problem my V3 has suffered from the fall; it's still functioning properly as far as I can tell. I've actually got both my Tamas on pause right now, because I feel kind of bad about it. But, anyways, if anyone knows what I can do about this, if anything, please let me know! If you don't think anything can be done, I'd like to hear that too. Thanks for any help you can give me. I knew that if anybody could answer my questions, it would be you guys!!

Wow that must of been quite a hard fall to get it dis-con-boob-er-ated like that lol. Have you tried hitting reset and continuing where you left off? That would probably be the main test since that'll show if the pixels are permanently damaged or not. Putting fresh batteries and doing this must also help to.
Sorry I can't be much help since I never had that problem before. Give it a try, it doesn't hurt to find out!

What I think happened is they literally got 'knocked out'. x)
If you really want to retrieve that row of pixels, what would probably work the best is putting pressure on it to get them into sticking again, but because of the protective layer of plastic on the Tama screen, you can't really do that without taking apart the unit - but just try pressing the screen in first, that might be all it needs. If you're comfortable with Tama-Surgery, though, go right ahead - just be careful of putting too much pressure on it, that'll have the reverse effect and everything'll go black.
There is a chance that rather than the crystals falling out, whatever it is in its screen that delivers electricity to the pixels actually broke, and seeing as you described them as looking like the pixels when the battery's out, that's a possibility as well although it doesn't sound as likely. I don't know what to do in that situation but I think if that's the case the safest option is to just live with it. You might want to try to find someone who works with LCD displays and see if they could fix it, though. =/

Thank you SO much, both of you!! All of your ideas sounded really good, but I decided to try applying pressure to the screen, becaue I didn't want to waste batteries, and I also didn't want to mess anything up by resetting. I don't feel comfortable with Tamagotchi-surgery, actually, so I was hoping that one of those three things would work.
Well, I'm happy to announce that after about five very hard pushes on the screen, I took my finger away and the pixels were back!! I'm not quite understand WHY that worked, but it did. I had been feeling lousy about the whole thing, so my Tamas have been on pause all today and yesterday. Now that my V3 is fixed, I'm happy to say that they're back again! Thanks again, TigerLily013 and Priestess of Syrinx! You guys are the best!

Ooh, ooh, ooh, the SAME exact thing happened to one of my P1s!! Except mine didn't do it from being dropped; it's some internal problem, methinks. I have no choice but surgery, which I have been planning to do for a while, but the screw is all messed up in one side and impossible to open.
So I can't try the push-hard-to-realign-the-pixels-and-circuit-board thingy(since I can't change the batteries either). Hmm...

Hi
cant you simply drill out the screw and put in a new screw? (i end up doing that to most electronic gadgets my mates ask me to fix)
so anywho, my tamagotchi used to have that pixel problem all the time, tho i did tend to drop it a lot
tried everything to fix it, but old age got the better of it
now it doesnt work at all........ so i'm planning on getting a new one...... but which type to get this time?
