At the end of the year, we have a new Tamagotchi coming our way - with a color screen!

We don't know much about it yet, except that it comes in gray and pink. Tongue

Here are two pictures. One is from an official Bandai Japan catalog, and the other was recently added to the Japanese site:

More information should be available soon. Smiley

Ooh, color screen Tama me want... Grin Those pictures make it look pretty big, though. I wonder if it will be normal Tama size or bigger. Do they work the same way as normal Tamagotchis(tell me when you find out, of course)?

Of course, when more information becomes available (at the end of the month), I'll let you know. Smiley

It's not actually going to be too big - roughly the size of the current line, though with the back a bit rounder. Judging from the pictures, it seems to work like a normal Tamagotchi. Though of course, we'll know what it's really capable of soon enough. Grin

Uh, not liking that background on the screen. =/ Hopefully the gameplay will have nothing to do with it. XD

Definitely like the shell design though - very very nice, modern looking. No more stupid useless antenna? Woo!~ Hopefully if they bring it over here they won't kiddy it up.

I'm dead excited to get my hands on one of these. It's the next big step for Tamagotchis. Of all the virtual pets I've had the pleasure of playing, there's something magical about the whole line up of Tamagotchi toys. They've laid down the groundwork for all virtual pets and they still uphold the greatest quality of them all.

I've seen other vpets make the jump from pixelated to the color screen world (Take Muichiz, for example) and they haven't really caught our attentions. I'm hoping this new series of tamagotchis really lifts the bar on the virtual pet world. Smiley

Are they just releasing more information, or is this 9/23 date the actual release date? I'm also hoping they will be an affordable price as I really would love to import a Japanese version to compare differences!

And my votes in for getting rid of the antenna...It was cute but I think they've pushed the antenna idea to the limit.

The release date is speculated to be on November 23, 2008 (as nearly all Tamagotchi pets are released on this day). Information should be available at the end of the month. The Japanese site mentions it as a "Tamagotchi Rebirth" (which would be an AMAZINGLY awesome title for it). Smiley

Binary, from TamaTalk, heard from Tarokaja, who scanned the image of the Rebirth, that the price would be roughly $50 in Japanese money. We know nothing about what the English edition will be like (if we DO get one).

Color pixels... coolish! It's good to see Bandai didn't decided to go with the popular 2D or 3D. That'd be so weird on a vpet.
But y'all know me, I gotta critic it! The shell looks ridiculously stupid. I hope they change it to a more 'old gen' styled one.
And FINALLY no more irritating antenna, took 'em long enough to take it off! IF the US and EU decided to import it, I pray to -some god here- they won't mess it up by changing things, say, the actual 'gameplay'. Bandai America is very well known for that.

Got a bit of bad news, though it might not be TOO bad, for those who don't want to switch to color so quickly..

The Color-screen Tamagotchi is going to be exclusive to Japan.
The rest of the world is getting a music theme Tamagotchi called "Tamagotchi Connection Version 6 Music Star," which will NOT have a color screen.
Also, the color screen Tamagotchi will take 2 AAA batteries.

Information comes from Narazeetak, a Tama-Zone member who works for Bandai Indonesia.

Thanks for the update, OM21. It isn't too big a deal to me that it will be exclusive to Japan, I was planning on ordering one of the internet from there anyways. I feel bad for anyone who wants one and isn't from Japan and can't order them, though.

Is there any information about the version 6 one for the US?
