Poll: 03.10.08: What do you think of the V5 experience?

Poll
Question:
Do you enjoy the family raising experience or prefer a single character?
Single character raising is better.
Raising a family is better.
They are too different to decide.
Unsure at this point.
I don't have a V5.

I don't have one, but I'm just curious on everyones thoughts on the family raising experience verses the single character raising experience.
I wonder if raising three at once is a more fulfilling experience - like do you become more attached or less attached to the tama(s) you are raising? I usually find the one and one experience is strong, but I don't have a v5 so I can't know for sure the other view.

Well, I really like the v5 because it's so simple to care for, like the v1, but there are more ways to keep it happy.
It's cute to see the parents and children raiding the refridgerator together (great example the parents are giving the kids!) and to see the children helping with the housework(they're much more helpful than I am!!)
It's also nice to see what all of the children will evolve into instead of just seeing what one Tamagotchi will evolve into (though that may well be the case- sometimes you only get one egg).
There is no naming option for the v5 (except for family name) but then again the originals never had one either. At least you can think of a name in your head and make it as long as you like (I named one Kayleuetski once- there weren't any limits to stop me from doing so!).
Raising a family does have its drawbacks though. Here they are:
1. You aren't raising the individual needs of each member, only the collective needs of all of them. I suppose that might be Bandai's trick to get more money- if the Tamagotchi is easier to care for, then parents won't be as concerned that the Tamagotchi is taking too much of their child/ren's time and perhaps be willing to buy more.
2. Items do the same animation no matter what character you have.
3. The eldest child is the only one that plays games (though in the golf putt and shoe pairs games, you do see one of the parent characters if you are on 2nd gen or higher). But it can be nice to imagine that the other children are sitting there too but you just can't see them!
4. When you mate via connection, only the person who chooses "accept" from the marriage menu will get the eggs and start the next generation- the person who chooses "give" will simply lose one of their characters and be on the same generation.

There really wasn't a "both" portion to the poll, but I like both the single AND more than one pet experience equally. Every virtual pet be it one character or more has it's pros and cons and I think bandai stuck to japanese one well, and it just all works out for me all the same.

*hits head on keyboard* I have a V5 and was about to click 'I like the family better', because it just is nice having three or more in a single Tama...I don't really know why.I do agree with TL,however. It's not that big of a difference really,I love them both. But my mouse slipped and I clicked 'I don't have a V5' then submit!!! So, just think of an extra point to the option I wanted to click and take one off 'i don't have one'.

There are a lot more games to be played, and there are many things to do in order to bond the family, so I'd have to say v5. Also, on account of me never having any other versions...

Eep, when the poll was posted I voted for 'I don't have a V5' but now my vote should be 'they are too different to decide'.
While the changes are all very nice and good, at first they are quite alienating for anyone who's raised the previous Connections in order,
(Speaking of which, they really aught to drop the 'Connection' name by now. The V1 was the one in which the IR connection was the big new feature. After that the new things were money, then TamaTown, then the job system.) Heck, the V5 can't even connect to previous Connections because it's just so different.
The animations for the characters are jerky and nowhere near as fluid (if you can say that) as the characters on the previous versions. The high-resolution item images remind me of the items on the new Giga Pets. The pause feature has been replaced by the Travel Channel.
Plus, though, in my experience they have been very easy to care for; I like that. It's hard to get attached, for me, to something that makes me play the same stupid game every five minutes (-shakes fist at Get Notes-).
This is the opinion of a person who has had a V5 for less than a day now. It's a great VP, just very different.
