Uratama battery worries (PLEASE HELP!!!)
«

I haven't played with my Tamas in a while. I don't think I will play with them for a long time, but I don't want to totally give them up. My connections are fine- the batteries can be dead forever and I can revive them whenever I want, but my Uratama is a different matter. If the battery dies, the clock keeps on ticking.
I currently have her on the only version of pausing (clock-screen mode) I know of for the Uratama. I don't want to keep buying new batteries whenever she runs out, but I currently don't have many other choices.
I read on one site that if you leave a dead battery in for a long time or take out the battery for a long time, the Tama will reset itself. I don't want to lose Izumi. On the same site I read that if you want to take a break you can stick the tab in while the battery is in. I have some questions with this method:
1- Does it work? Will I be able to bring Izumi back at a later date?
2- How long will I be able to use this method? As long as I want? As long as the battery lasts? Two seconds?
3- Are there any alternative methods that don't involve killing the Tama/reseting the Tama/buying new batteries whenever she runs out again? PLEASE DO NOT MAKE UP FAKE METHODS!!!!
Also I thought I kept the tab, but apparently I didn't. What else will work for a tab.
Please reply ASAP.

Putting the tab back in the Tamagotchi is pretty much the same as taking the battery out, as all the tab does is separate the board and the battery. The advantage is just that you needn't take the battery out, which is handy for the older Tamagotchi with their easily-destructible screws.
So yes, it does work. If you loose the tab, a similar strip of card paper approx. 2 cm long should work as an alternative.
The only disadvantage I could foresee would be that should the battery start leaking, be it age, or that the battery brand absolutely sucks, the battery would still be in the Tamagotchi, possibly leaking into it. But in my experience, this doesn't happen.
So, "tabbing" the Tamagotchi will last around a few years, which should be how long it would take for the memory to wipe itself, if it will at all.
The only way I could see to keeping the memory alive for an extremely extended period of time, would to be, every half-year or so, pull the tab/insert the battery, load the memory, and then take out the battery again. This might 'refresh' the memory.
This is all provided the memory
does
eventually erase. I know older forms of handheld memory do, as their battery based and once that runs out, no data can ever be saved or loaded, ever. But I have no clue what the Tamagotchi uses.

I think you'll find that keeping Tamas on pause for an extended amount of time won't wipe the memory. I know somebody who's had his on pause for 4 and a half years, and the memory hasn't gone (that's a tamaplus).
I think that you'll be alright if you tab Izumi up while her clock screen is flashing. I don't have a uratama though, so I can't test it. Sorry!

Thanks for your replies. Actually, I just decided to play with her, but I decided one Tama wasn't enough and brought my V4 with sunflowers back too. I had one of my V2's out today too, but her A button seemed a little unresponsive and then her battery went dead... I've got to go get some more batteries soon

(How can somebody have Tama+ paused for 4,5 years when Pluses came out in April 2004? That's less than 4 years actually...)

April 2004? I beg to differ. He apparently got his Plus in the beginning of '04, and then paused it a week after (actually, that's 4 years, I stand corrected). I think the batteries got drained soon after. I could be wrong, I may have misheard him, or he may have been lying to me. Let me go check the release date.
