Soooo, I went to WalMart the other day and saw a nice big pile of V5s!

Call me crazy, but I didn't touch them.

I've been planning to order a Famitama or Aussie Familitchi and I've been curious about the differences between the Japanese version and the Austrailian version, and more important to my location, the differences between both of those and the American version. I saw a video online of the Aussie version, and it has the authentic Japanese sound, and the same games it looks like, and it looks like the only change they did was translating the words into English. Am I wrong? Has anyone gotten hold of an American V5? Does it have the American sounding beep or the (cuter IMHO) Japanese beep?

I'm just so curious Cheesy

I don't have a Famitama or Familitchi, so I might be wrong.

I think these are the only three differences:

1. "Pantsutchi" is called "Otututchi."
2. The connection menu on the Familitchi lacks the DVD option and the special option has been moved. The Famitama menu shows Famitama, DVD, PC/Mobile Phone and Special. The Familitchi menu shows v5, Special and PC. I think that the Mobile Phone connection thingy on the Famitama is actually just accessing the internet on your mobile phone!!
3. If you go onto the Dating Channel too early on the Famitama, Otokitchi gives you a warning message and sends you away, but if you go onto the Dating Channel too early on the Familitchi, Otokitchi just gets angry and sends you away.

4. Bomutchi (literally "Bombtchi") is now Bakutchi.
5. Lucky Unchi-Kun has been replaced, though the new item has the same function. (with thanks to JC1 of Tama-Zone for pointing it out!).

6. The "Travel Channel" is free on the V5, as it is now used to replace "Pause".
7. Money codes from TamaEXPO differ based on regions, but item codes remain the same. (thanks to Binary).
8. The antenna is different; the V5 sports a small house/chimney-like thing from the side with a face, while the Famitama sports a key.
9. Key chains are different based on Region. USA gets the hoop chain, Europeans get the plug chain with a character charm, Oceanic/Asian regions get a key, and the Famitama gets the key antenna.
10. On the V5, the "Space Characters" can be obtained on the Dating Channel.
11. The "Fat" family is now the "Large" family (Sumo family in Europe). The small family is now the "Petite" family.
12. The V5 does not indicate which siblings are the oldest, unlike the Famitama.

Two things I'm very curious about.

1. People are always saying that the v5 is already out in Australia. I am Australian and I have looked in two department stores in the city and two other stores at one of the nearest shopping centres.

2. It's interesting to see the changes between the v5 and Famitama. Why did they replace Lucky Unchikun? Why did they change Bomutchi and Pantsutchi's names? Why does the Famitama have a padlock while the v5 has a house?

These are probably all related to cultural differences. But if this is so, why didn't they change the correct cup position in the Tea Time game?

The End is different this time (the us/european versions is TOTALLY different from the previous versions).

In the Famitama you could see a mausoleum with your tama-soul flyng away; in the Familitchi the tamas back to their tama-planet.

Finally yesterday my Famitama arrived after 1 month i've ordered it from YesAsia.com! Tongue

I don't know what the Japanese beeps sound like, but if they're way different than normal connection beeps, they are. If you here a connection and a Japanese Tama, does the Japan one sound a lot different and a little bit distorted? If so, it has the Japanese beep. Hope that helped a little.  Wink

Edit- I personally think the V5's beep is cuter than normal connection beeps, so if we have the same taste in beeps I'm pretty sure it's the Japanese one.  Grin

I just got an American one today, and the beeps are the same as the Japanese Famitama. If anything they are a little bit deeper/louder.

I agree though. They are cuter than the recent american connections. However, the entama and uratama had different beeps than the V4 and V4.5. They were very nice and soft.

Hey the V5 and the Famitama can connect, right?
Forgive me if this is already answered somewhere. X_X
