First, I wanna say a big congratulations to our dancingkayley for nearly reaching 99G!

The big question is, what will happen after she passes that one? It's a question that has been asked by many people, but I have yet to see a proven answer to it.

Good luck and good voting!

I, personally, would say the counter probably just sticks at 99 and you can't keep going. Smiley

I'm thinking it'll just roll over to 0g or 1g. Great poll, I am quite anxious to see the answer myself. ^.^

These are my theories.

1. If you feed your Tamagotchi a lot of snacks the weight counter will reach 99g/99lbs (depending on whether you have a Connexion/Connection/Plus). If you feed it any more then technically your Tamagotchi will be heavier, yet the weight counter will still say 99g/99lbs. You can get your Tamagotchi to lose weight but you can't get the counter to say any more than 99g/99lbs.

2. If you raise a Tamagotchi until it's 99 years old, the counter will say 99yr. However no matter how long you keep a Tamagotchi alive after that, according to someone else's log (I think it was TamaMum's) the age counter will still read "99yr" even though technically your Tamagotchi is older than that.

3. If you play a load of games with a v4/4.5 Tamagotchi you might get 999 skill points in something. For example, I've got 999 Style skill points at the moment. Even if I go to my Meidotchi's job as a Florist (the florist job raises Style skill points) the Style points counter will not go any higher.

Judging by the three examples above, I think the generational counter will stay at 99. If it didn't the screen would be too cluttered.

And I don't think it's "cluttered-ness" either. The Famitama can only get up to 99G (at least it said so in the scans of the manual I've seen) and that has a screen that's 16 pixels wider (it's 48 x 30 pixels, instead of the usual 32 x 30 pixels).

I don't think they will make it impossible to mate. You see, even if you have the maximum skill points in Style you're still allowed to play Style games (for example, Dance), if you have a very old Tamagotchi you're still allowed to look after it and if you've got a heavy Tamagotchi you're still allowed to feed it.

I put 'they won't be able to mate', but after browsing the site for a few minutes, I realized what dancinkayley said. If you reach 99,999GotchiPoints, you can still get money, but you can't spend it, it stays at 99,999. Same with weight(but only 99). There isn't a voting choice for 'stays at 99' though.

I wonder if it's possible to add that to the poll, Anna? I thought the same thing.

It might function as score counters did in old video games - the third place is unavailable for viewing, but is still there, so the counter would read '00G' for 100, '01G' for 101, etc.

I can't change the poll, but if Kat could add
"It continues generations but the counter doesn't move up"
as one of the choices, that would be wonderful ^_^

This thing is not actually related, but this conversation reminds me of playing Final Fantasy 9 and Freiya having technique "Dragon's Crest" which deals 1 point of damage for every dragon type monster you had beat in the game. Example if you had beat 200 dragon monsters the attack made 200 points of damage to  any monster not depending how high defense they had.

I was playing in the last CD of the storyline and I had beat more than 10'000 dragons so Freiya should have made over 10'000 points of damage with her technique every time I used it. But the number of the HP/damage count was limited to 4 digits so freiya could do only 9999p of damage at once.

But I could beat bosses and giant monsters that had several tens of thousands points of HP with using Dragon Crest two or three times. So the attack made at least 12'000 points of damage but the counter showed only 9999 points.

The idea is similar to fact that Tama can be over 99lbs of weight but the number won't go above 99.

Kokuma, what you said  reminds me of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, where sometimes my Blastoise, Hinoqui, deals over 1000 damage though on the main screen it just says -999 in red numbers, instead of the usual white. In the message box, however, it says something like "Poochyena took 1027 damage!"

Anyway, I will tell you all right now that once your Tamagotchi has gotten to 99 generations it can still mate. This morning, Xikun, my Tamagotchi on 99th Generation mated a Gozarutchi and had a male baby.
