I don't know if this has been posted before, but a while ago when I was eagerly awaiting my Tamagotchi's arrival, I went in search for an emulator.  I found one that emulates  (I think..) the old 1997 Tamagotchis.  Here's the link:

It's a PC emulator, and while I've found a few bugs it seems to work perfectly (for some people it seems start a new pet once the computer is turned off, but I didn't have this issue.)  You can change the color of your egg, view instructions and choose between 2 games.  There's even a useable reset button in the back view.  I think it's pretty well done.  I would use it more often but I have a Mac and even with Windows installed on it (I refer to this as 'Mindows'  ), 99% of the time I'm in the Mac environment.    I've yet to find an emulator for the Mac - probably doesn't exist.

That's the one and only original Tama simulator.
It runs on a crazy speed, yet it's the one most life like out there- in my opinion. ;O
It changes a bit faster than regular Tama but also slower, depending on how much you run it.
Mine once took 2 weeks to grow into adulthood. >_<

On my older computer I used to have the plugin to make it P2 characters but I can't find it anywhere now

Yeah it is a bit fast, I noticed that too.  I'm not sure why it would be like that, I tried asking around (my circle of friends is a group of computer programmers/geeks) but it seems that no one knows.  I found it to be really hyper active when playing the games.

I figure, if its a bit faster it's better... since you won't have your computer on 24/7, if you actually do use it as though it is a real tamagotchi, it won't take 3 months to grow.  

TigerLily - I was looking for plug-ins but it seems that the official website for it isn't up anymore.  Sucks when something cool like that is too old!  I'd like to use it at work but I'd probably get in trouble

Yeah I hear ya. It's too bad I can't find the other plugins anymore. I really liked having both p1 and p2 characters.

Awesome thank you! I'll install it once I'm home. I'm sure the Japanese I could work around lol. Is it just the on screen text is in japanese or the options go japanese?

Does anyone know how to make the tama appear on my screen? I get the little icon at the corner, and nothing else.    Other than that it's a great simulation!

If you right click on the little icon near the time, check the option that says always appear on top. It might just be minimized.
