So I know that Jiro, Dennis and I all enjoy quotes. Perhaps there are others here who share our passion?

I've been collecting quotes from famous and non-famous, "real people quotes", since as far back as I can remember. There's a page on my site about it, but it's un-updated. Here's some of mine...

"You're on this boat for the long haul, missy. You jump off now, you'll be taking down someones dreams with you. But, you stand on too long, and you might sink anyway..." -Jakoh Wah Condalo, FFXI

"Has she ever made you miserable as she has ever made you happy?" -Brendan my hubby.

"I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you." -Roy Croft

"Part of the fun of fishing with friends is untangling the hooks." -Brendan my hubby =)

"Do everything as if you had all the time in the world, and live every day as if it were your last." -Unknown

I realize, as I pull these from my gaming notebook, that most are too naughty to post here  Often when I'm gaming I'll write down quotes between my notes or on the edges of the paper, so I have to search for them all one page at a time haha.  I'll have to get out my quotes book. I gotta go run some errands so I'll add more later.

Anyone else have any fun/serious/favorite quotes?

Great thread, Kat.
I was actually going to start putting some of my favorite quotes in my signature and update it every so often.  Smiley

I have quite a few quotes I enjoy, some I like just because they sound cool but most of the ones I enjoy are the kind that really say something to me.

One I just recently read comes from Robert Goddard( a scientist, The Goddard Space Flight Center is named in his honor):
"It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and reality of tomorrow." - Robert H. Goddard

I also have a couple from Albert Einstein and William Shakespeare that I like. I have a ton from writers but that would be too many to list. Smiley

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."- Albert Einstein  <---( Probably my favorite quote from him)

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." - Albert Einstein

" Cry "Havoc", and let slip the dogs of war" - William Shakespeare from "Julius Caesar"

What an interesting thread!  I, personally, am definitely a quote lover, although I don't know many.  Some good additions to the collection are:

"Shoot for the moon.  Even if you miss, you will land among the stars."  -Les Brown

"Hold the cross high so I may see it through the flames!"  -Jeanned d'Arc, as she is burned at the stake

"Live life the way you want, no matter what criticism may come your way, and you'll be able to feel good about yourself and everything that you do."  -Johnny Weir, professional figure skater

"Don't be shocked when people die; be surprised you're still alive."  -Lacey Mosley

Ahhhh!!!! I'm so happy you put this up Kat. Cheesy I LOVE quotes! I collect a lot of TV/Movie quotes myself, but I also have a few other random ones, some of which I saw on your quotes page.

Before I post my quotes, I'd like to say this - Kat the quote "do everything as if you had all the time in the world, and live everyday as if it were your last". I put that quote on a portfolio that I made for art. I'd seen it on your quotes page, and put it on. That quote says a lot to me.

Here are a few quotes that I like...

"If you run from it, it gets bigger, but if you face it, it goes away forever" - Me.. Dennis.

"If you stare at someone long enough, you discover their humanity" - from the movie as good as it gets.

"That which does not kill as makes us stronger" - unknown

I hope you like these. Smiley

"Do everything as if you had all the time in the world, and live every day as if it were your last." -Unknown

That reminds me of The Simpsons when Homer read that and starts crying on a sidewalk saying "I'm gonna die!"

Diggin' the quotes you guys are posting! The following two are from a research paper I did about Idleness and escaping the everyday:

I count it as absolute certainly that in paradise, everyone naps.”  - Tom Hodgkinson (modern Idler, author)

"Idleness, like kisses, to be sweet must be stolen." - Jerome K. Jerome

Others:

The skyline was beautiful on fire, all twisted metal stretching upwards. Everything washed in a thin orange haze.” - Godspeed You! Black Emperor (band) For some reason these lyrics, especially that line has me in a devastated yet moved feeling. It's hard to explain, beautiful lyrics.

The desert is where all your dreams come true.” - Joel (a good friend of mine). Joel and I are chasing the dreams in the desert, we hope to go there one day with nothing but an esky and a stereo.

I have a great collection of them but because I moved this weekend... I'm going to have to find it! ^.^
