If at the top left there is a red box with the letters "JD" or "TS" in white in it, don't buy it- all the "version 6's" and "version 8's" have these logo's as well as the other obvious fakes! Also, if the person has just put in a random photo that is obviously off the internet (or no photo at all!) then don't trust it- if it was real the person would have put in a photo of the actual thing. That's my advice!! And yeah, they are really funny aren't they lol?!  Grin

I bought three tamas in china, two I know are fakes, and the last one says the bandai stuff on it and has a "connection" thing, but I have no clue what it is.

From reading Tamenagerie (http://www.homestead.com/karrsplace/index.html), I get the impression that most of the fakes are running the Gyaoppi chip. Gyaoppi is the kind where you choose one animal, like a dog or a cat or a duck, sometimes you have three choices, sometimes nine, or even thirty, and you just raise that animal. Each time you reset you can choose a new animal. Her website has more information. I've never owned one myself, although maybe someday I'll pick one up for cheap to see what it's like.
My two fakes are running on the Gyaoppi chip.

Look at this:

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=idea-realize&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller&ssPageName=VIP:feedback:3:us

This is the page of feedback comments from a user called idea-realize, who sells a lot of fake tamagotchi's. There are either good ("Thank you for the version 9's'- my kids LOVE them!!"), neutral (These two users have decided to make a refund as the user who bought the item was not happy") or negative ("these tamagotchi's are FAKE!!") it is really weird reading all the comments!! So if you are on ebay, see a tamagotchi and think "ooh I'm gonna buy it!" check who is selling it and if it's a guy called idea-realize don't buy!!
