I'm going to be fairly off-topic with this, but I don't think you really get to use the key for anything more than a decoration. By the way, I didn't welcome you to this forum yet, so welcome! Hehe. I think that the key has the same function as the removable rubber keychain piece on the Japanese Keitais and Akais, and the Hong Kong V3s, in that you can take it off and do with it what you wish, I suppose.

But who knows? Maybe in Japan they'll have some special promotion or will come out with a tama where you can enter one of the three keys and sort of "log in" to something. I think I'm going out on a limb here.  Or maybe there will be a machine you can put the key part in and turn, and a little mini Famitama will come out of a machine, like the quarter dispensers... hee hee

That was a good idea though, Spartan! Now you've really got me thinking =p

Thanks much for the welcome!

I've noticed something odd - on the back of the Famitama shell, on the section that's shaped like a padlock where the metal U embeds, there's what looks like a tiny keyhole with a plastic cover - perhaps one Famitama can unlock another?!

I detached the key from my own Famitama and it doesn't fit - perhaps each Famitama will have a different-sized key?

I think you're right though, it is decorative and not functional... but it would be cool if another product is made to fit the key - I'm thinking maybe a safe-deposit box that you can open with your Famitama key?

Or a vending machine/dispenser - after all in Tokyo there are Tamagotchi vending machines in the street already

Either way I can't wait
