Re: Tamagotchi's birthday, my mom forwarded me a newspaper article about it last week, but it was all in Japanese so I couldn't understand it. She told me to try to read it as best as I could. It was totally a test of my Japanese literacy. I got as far as figuring out that it was about Tamagotchi, and something happening on a particular date. If I had been able to read it better, I would have wanted to plan some special events for that day. Oh well!

Ten years ago, when Tamagotchi was hot in Toronto, I remember trying to be different and being like, "Tamagotchi are lame! I love my Rakuraku Dinokun!" Now I know, I can have it both ways.

My first Bandai Tamagotchi were my Osutchi/Mesutchi pair that I got in autumn 2002.

I avoided Tamagotchi as well 10 years ago when they came out. I was 7 or 8 at the time when they were the "hottest toy" in St. John's, and everyone had one. I've avoided fads always, for as far back as I can remember. I would play with friends Tamas, but never got one.

Then of course I got my first, a P2 in July 2006, and so my interest began. And now I love them!
