From my experience with V4s, the toddlers turning into specific teens seems to be random, so when you do get a teen, that is when you can try and start raising their skill points.

However, depending on the adult you have now at 1G and the family of the tama they mate with, you can predict what family your second generation will go into.

Mame + Mame = Mame family
Mame + Meme = Meme family
Mame + Kuchi = Mame family
Meme + Mame = Meme family
Meme + Meme = Meme family
Meme + Kuchi = Kuchi family
Kuchi + Mame = Mame family
Kuchi + Meme = Kuchi family
Kuchi + Kuchi = Kuchi family

There of course are some exceptions.. but so far with my tamas this has been the pattern. I found the chart on a blogagotchi log. Good stuff good stuff

Well, good luck with that! Maybe this time you can wait to match it up with an adult from the Kuchi family via the matchmaker!

I'll let you know how little haiku develops. I'll probably post again tomorrow night after thanksgiving dinner.

I was thinking..and I came up with a theory that might be correct? I dunno..I just don't think that the tamagotchi your family mates with has to do with what the next baby is.  Not on the v4/v4.5 anyways..I don't know about entama/uratama.

I was thinking that when you are caring for your baby, you get a child depending in how well you cared for the baby.  The teen you get is also affected by how you cared for your child.  Then, the adult you end up with is from two factors..how you care for the teen, and also what skill group it is in.  Because I have noticed that when I don't care for the child that great, I get a teen low on the growth chart.  When I care for it good, I get a healthy teen character.  Same for the adults...So I dunno.

If I'm stating general knowledge then I give you guys permission to slap me. Tongue But all I heard from you guys is that the characters are random, and I just don't think they are..

I don't know if I agree. You know me Nik, I mean no disrespect or anything. I just remember taking horrible care of a baby a couple of times and still managing to get a higher toddler, or at least a higher one on the growth charts.

I think that the families of the parents decide on which path the child or children will take, and the care, gender and skill points determine the character of the adult you get, with the exception of horrible care or lack of any skill points getting a universal character.

I donno, just a hypothesis. We could both be wrong, but who knows? =p

Let the number one geek, moi, give it a try!
See, what Anna said about depending on the parent is true. The entama/uratama
breeding/mating rules where also put into the V4 and V4.5. However, they only work to 90%[or so].
There's a way to break the [evil?] circle/chain- also knowns as The Universial Characters.
[It pays off readin' and being binary's fan!] It also says on the package, or at least does on our
Connexion ones, that the parents affect its/the offspring, and as you can see on Anna's diagram the
lovely Kuchi family is dominating them all but the Mame family.

Well, both my V4 and V3 changed this afternoon while at my aunt and uncles home in Knox.

Here's a image of Chiro and Haiku... the image is a bit blurry only cause i don't know how to use my aunts scanner soo. Haiku changed into a Gourmetchi and Chiro changed into a Osu/Mesu character with wings... don't remember that characters name right now though.

I believe that the one on the right is called a Batabatchi. And it seems like the Meme family for you, because Gourmetchi is in the Meme family.
