::Due to the popularity of the Structured Game Gotchi Space Raiders, I'm starting a Free-For-All version featuring a different ship in the same universe. This will be a lot easier for anyone who wants to join in but doesn't want to go through a boring application process.
Maybe someday we can have a crossover story between the two ships.::Maybe you've heard of the
ISS Space Moth, infamous galaxy-scourer of exotic Tamagotchi species?
Well this is not the story of the
Space Moth. No sir. This is the story of a different ship: the
Star Duck.
The
Star Duck was less of a streamlined system of starship and crew, and more like a roving space colony. The ship was enormous, growing bigger all the time as smaller, derelict ships would be fused onto the hull at seemingly random points. Crews left adrift by a run-in with a meteor or an interplanetary Gotchi UFO could find safety on the
Duck. In fact, all were welcome: young and old, poor and rich, experienced space pirates and ambitious teenagers with eyes full of dreams.
The
Duck had, in fact, collected more Tamagotchi than the
Space Moth, albeit they tended to be the more common varieties. They would go to the most populated Tamagotchi worlds and lay down their nets and scoop up dozens of lonely little fuzzies. And once in a while, they would find a surprise...
Captain Caulima Revertran was the most recent Captain of the
Space Duck. The ship was handed down to her by its previous captain, Captain Badna, when he decided it was time to retire on Earth. She had served as loyal First Officer for eleven years, and it was only her second month as captain. Most of the crew knew her well as a fair and just leader, but some of the new responsibilities were still... well... new.
She was a short-statured young lady, and perhaps her most obvious physical trait was that she was bald. A former ship's mechanic, she had once needed to do extensive hull repair when they were adrift near Mercury, and the exposure to cosmic rays had made all her hair fall out. She rather enjoyed all the attention that she got out of it. She had big, expressive eyes and a penchant for wearing over-the-top makeup.
There was no dress code on the
Star Duck, so Captain Caulima would often traipse around in little sundresses with interesting print on them.
Caulima's personal favourite type of Tamagotchi were the Morino type, so the
Space Duck was currently on a heading to Planet Morino, an Earth-sized planet covered with dense jungle, and home to many interesting little bug-gotchi. It was going to take a day and a half of travel to reach their destination.
She sat on her seat at the bridge, watching the stars go by. Ensigns were manning the consoles around her, since it was the night-shift. Her latest prize catch, an Imotchi, was curled up in a heated cage on her left armrest. The night shift was going smoothly.
