I ask this because today in 5th period, some guys looked like they were ready to beat and/or kill me just because I had them out. (one of them even threatened to!) What made it worse was that we had a sub. I tried calling a security guard, but they ran from the classroom when I left to do so. I wanted to know if anyone else can relate to this, and was also looking for advice. It's beginning to worry and frighten me. I have no problem being myself in public, but they seem ready to either force me to change or get rid of me another way. Please help

Ugh. This makes me sick. I to bring my Tamas to school everyday, but I only have them out around friends I trust, and who don't mind I have them. If I'm in a class where people are sortive rough, or I don't know them, I keep my Tamas in my sweater/hoody pockets, and peer in at them when no one is looking. I've never had a problem with anyone about my Tamas yet in High School.

I feel for you though. I admire that you are able to have your Tamas out around complete morons like the ones in your school, and every school for that matter. I really don't know if I can judge here, if these guys were really agressive, then I'd say you will want to watch out for yourself. But if they were just joking around, and trying to get a rise out of you, I wouldn't worry to much. Either way, these guys are jerks.

Keep on being yourself, and don't do anything just to please some jerks like them.

Not at all serious. I'm actually getting people interested in it.
T's true. I've got my closest friend into Tamagotchis. He's still having his V2 and is at generation 70-80 or so.
Another friend I meet in university, we're in the same english and bio class, started with Tamas like four months ago and is going strong with a V3. A dude, btw! =P
My lab partner is into Tamagotchis. I didn't get her intrested, tho, only a bit more comfy carrying 'em around.
And lastly, another mate I hang around with a lot fell for the cool Black/Flame V4.5 and bought it at first just for looks. Now he's comfy enough to care for the little "bugger" as he call it.
He've always thought Tamagotchis where badasses but their designs over here is a big let down. [Girlish]
I'm glad he've finally found one. It sounds a bit cheesy, I know. XD

They're not collectors, tho. Well, beside my lab partner.
We do hook up our gotchis in class [the girls think it's drop dead sweet] and during
our lunch breaks.
Not all of us together at the same time. Well, actually sometimes since we're this big grp of friends.
Tamagotchi's are sort of "badass/cool" since Japan is a total blast in Sweden.
Tamagotchis = Japanese invetion so you do the math. =P

Sure, I've had some picking on my arse. I've never cared. However, I've never been threatened.

that's really horrible, what grade are you in?

i never brought my tamagotchis when i was in highschool. or if i did, they were paused all day and only unpaused in the bus since i had a super long route to go. i didn't 'hide' them per-say, but i just didn't have time to care for them while socialising and all.

my close friends know about my tamagotchis, and some not so close do too. i don't really care, they seem to like me enough to find it cute that i love to play with tamagotchis. and i'm just generally cute and all!

plus, when you'll get out of highschool (assuming you're still in), i bet you'll feel much more at ease around people with them. highschool is kind of weird, everyone follows everyone and real personalities haven't come out just yet.

i'd say you should just ignore their teasing, but if there are threats and you think they might be real, go to an advisor/director maybe?

ugh, some people are so low. you're great for sticking by your little pleasures though Smiley!

Since starting my collecting, the only real negative thing I've ever heard someone say is "Why do you play with them?" in a rather cold tone and I just reply back "why not? It's a legit hobby, you'd be surprised" and they seem to leave me alone after that. I've had some folks get into them and try them out like a couple of my friends. I recall getting a couple friends V2's and them texting me while I was in class asking how this worked or how that worked. It was fun being called the virtual pet guru of my group of friends XD!!

Even made babysitting more fun too! Had some babysitting gigs where the kids treated me like gold and seemed to be interested in my collection. This bro and sis one time I told them they were good for me for the whole week straight I'd bring my box where I keep my virtual pets, and that week was almost like I was royalty of some sort LOL it was rather amusing.

Overall I think they enhanced my interaction with the world, and nothing feels more great than when you get people interested in them too!

Steven, I wish I was in Florida so I could just beat those guys up for you. I swear I would.

I was always one of the "badasses" in school, or so I was told. A lot of people were intimidated by me (I never knew why, but I can hold my own in a fight). So they wouldn't really bother me about them. I knew everyone, was friends with everyone, but people tended not to try to pick fights with me (except this one girl, but that was solved rather quickly by me  of course with the penalty of a suspension for the both of us). If anyone really said or did anything, it was to just laugh, ask how I did it, and shake their head. Otherwise, people just always asked me how my "kids" were.

At work though, I have all my students asking about them all the time. It's like I'm some sort of tama master to them. They think I'm the best cos if they're good I'll let them play a few games with them, after making sure they understand that they can't choose the "Pacman" or discipline them, and they can't throw any items away. They're mesmerized by my blue-pixellated Uratamas.

But really, Game, I would pay them no mind. Once you're out of high school, they won't be around and you won't have to bother with wastes of space like that. But until then, maybe you could do what Dennis does? On the other hand, I wouldn't want you compromising how you are for them[/b]

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your advice and comments. Sure made me more at ease. I wish I could solve my problem by giving them a beating (hey, I'm not gonna lie here. Smiley), but I don't want to attract negative attention of any kind. (that and I'd get whupped easily) Maybe I'll try to get their full names and then report them to the principal. (seeing as how it'd be more of an impact coming from him than anyone else in the school) Who knows, maybe they'll get something like 2 weeks suspension each. (I wish)

Dang, I'm sorry to hear about that GameAW, those guys are tools. Reporting them to the principle would be a good idea, or a well trusted teacher, they could have a word with them or give them warning.

I chose: Not at all serious. I'm actually getting people interested in it.

Throughout highschool I had my Tama's with me, I never got any bullying, they knew I was a bit strange and had my quirky hobbies haha. I managed to get a few friends into them, it was nice to connect between classes. I was lucky though, as my school year was a fairly close one, I never was victim to bullying or teasing of such.
Nowadays, as a Uni student, my lecture classmates have seen me pull out the Tama's, I don't get strange looks, sometimes they smile and ask about them.
My friends think it's....... ...... cute.......... as to hold such care for them. >.<

Hope those guys at your school grow up soon.

I happen to be a preteen, so nobody really cares. Though these girls at school two grades younger than me said, "You're not allowed them at school." I said, "Since when? I've been told I'm allowed to take them." The most that any teacher's ever told me is that I shouldn't take my Tamagotchi to school because I need to make real friends and that I'm not allowed to play with my Tamagotchi for the whole of lunch.

Suuuuuuuuuuuure I play with my Tamagotchi for the whole of lunch. I walk around aimlessly most recesses and lunchtimes and just check on my Tamagotchi every now and then. But not get stuck into just sitting down somewhere playing games over and over. I don't have that kind of patience.
