I know it sounds stupid, but maybe it's a coincidence that all items in the shop are balls. my brother went to the shop once, and all the items were bowties. try getting it to restock just to be sure.

Well, although all my items are still balls, the shop items aren't!  I think it's absolutely bizarre that that occurred just now, in the midst of my ball crisis!  Spooooky.   

And I checked, and my point value is not a glitchy number.

I just pressed the 'A' button after reinserting the battery.  There was a little beep, and I saw an egg.  When I pressed 'A' I was asked to 'Download' or 'Reset', and I chose 'Download'.  That's all.  And I've also had all those items for ages.   

I meant pushing the rest button on the back after installing a new battery.  I've had strange experiences when I just start up a tama without pushing reset.  I've had repeating images before, but not the same case as yours.

In that case, I  know for sure I have had this glitch before. the best thing to do is trash all of the balls (except one if you want a free ball for later baby tamas) and start your items from scratch. (one last thing, are you able to feed him said balls as treats? It also happened to me during my glitch time.)

How would you go about "trashing the balls"?  I thought the only way to get rid of something is if it breaks.  (This is probably a really stupid question.)     Also, you can't feed the balls as treats.  I just tried that, and it didn't work.

There is a very well-hidden feature of Trashing an item:

go to the Book icon (the Friends/Presents one)
select 'Present'
find the item (in this case, the Balls)
Press A to select
It will say 'Wrap?'
Press A again.
It will say 'Trash?'
Press A
Select 'Yes'.

I really don't know why they put it /there/.

Thank you so much, everyone!  I got rid of all the balls but one, and am ready to start a clean slate in my items list!
