Could you be more specific?
How is your "old ones" breaking 'cause of your "new ones"?
Breaking as in things fall off/goes haywire or just glitching/batteries end up dead?

More details, please, and we could surely help:
  • What/which are the 2 new Tama's.
  • Explain these parts:

If I understand correctly, when you connect them, your batteries run out quickly? This is natural. IR Connection takes a lot of battery power. If this happens, press 'reset' and things should be back to normal.

There is no way being in the same room can effect them.

The colour of the shell will not help us to identify the type of Tamagotchi. We're looking for a name like "Version 1", "Version 4" or whatever. Do you know what Version your Tamagotchis are?

If they are Version 1's, it's possible you have a pair of the old, problematic Version 1's that drained batteries too quickly.

Do you notice that you change the batteries on them very often, even if you don't connect them to your new Tamagotchis?

Okay... do they have antennas?

If they do, what shape is the antenna? Are there two engraved lines on the left side? Is there a ball on top?

Another way to tell what version of Tamagotchi you have is by looking at the games menu.

Games a Tamagotchi has at the adult stage:

Version 1 has Dance and Jump.
Version 2 has Jump, Bump, Heading and Slot.
Version 3 has Get the Notes, Bump, Flag, Heading, Memory and Sprint.
Version 4 has Jumping Rope, Mimic, Shape, Dance and Flag.
Version 4.5 has Climb, Tug-o-war, Apple, Shapes and Manhole.

Games a Tamagotchi will always have no matter what stage:

Version 1 has Dance and Jump.
Version 2 has Jump.
Version 3 has Get the Notes.
Version 4 has Jumping Rope.
Version 4.5 has Climb.
