Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know about a useful site for coming up with Hallowe'en-themed names.

I will be hatching my Akai, which means I need to come up with a spooky name that will work with Japanese characters. I'm sure I won't be the only one with this situation.

I found a great site called The Obakemono Project. It's an online encylopaedia of Japanese spooks and spirits. "Obakemono" means 'shapeshifter' but it's a general term for supernatural beings, often spooky.

I've shotgunned "Hitodama" for my Akai, nobody take that one! Grin A hitodama is a floating fireball/will-o-the-wisp that contains a human spirit.

I hope you guys are thinking of cool names for your Tamas! I can't wait to hear about them all in the chat!

I like the Ao-sagi-bi.

"Sometimes at night a heron will be seen with its eyes burning and its white feathers glowing with a supernatural light. From a distance, the bird appears like a fireball. Could this waterfowl be among the animals capable of working bewitching magic?"

If I get my UraTama in time for it (Jason is usually very quick with his shipping), I will name it that. I think it is fitting, since it is a tama where many characters have wings like a bird, and a heron is a "waterfowl." Water = blue = blue pixels on UraTama!

It's a stretch, I know, but I think it fits.

I haven't been posting on this thread because I can't come to the Live Hatch (sorry!), but I just had to say that that website is very interesting!  If you read Xxxholic, you should definitely take the time to look up the Zashiki-warishi and the Tengu.  The articles on them are very enlightening as to their characters in the story.  Grin

Just a reminder to everyone that the hatch is eight hours from now!

And, if you can, plug in your speakers and microphone. Wink

I'll be sending out personalized reminders to everyone who RSVPed in this thread.

I'm so excited for the group hatching! Cheesy I have finally decided what I'm going to hatch - a blue/silver P2 with cartoon images of Hashizotchi and Pochitchi on the shell! ^^ It is an awesome looking Tama, one of my newest that I bought this summer.

I'm excited to chat with everyone tonight! Grin Cya all there!

Got your email Elana.  Wink

I wish I had a microphone, I still have not got one, and I've been asking around but nobody has one. Dang, =(

I might not be able to chat in person, but it'll be nice to hear those who can!

In Europe the clocks are changed from Daylight Saving Time to "Normal" Time the night this chat takes place, tonight. Clocks are turned one hour backwards ("towards the summer" as the proverbs goes) so I think the chat times for Europe are minus one hour from the times listed. If the software/page Elana used counts the difference of DSL, then the times are right.

Best idea for Europeans is to come in the chat 1 hour earlier as stated in the timezone list to see if there's something going on. That way there's no chance for you to miss the hatch.
